Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
i figured the spring would be the hardest part to make rust proof, but the back lock would probably be much easier to manipulate with wet hands than the cbbl.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

I'd love CBBL with translucent yellow FRCP. Also, a sprint in Caribbean teal/aqua solid would be awesome, too.

Absolutely would want one. Backlock Manix in FRN would be first choice, but would buy a current Manix LW in Salt form if possible.

I voted yes. My only preference would be for screw-together construction vs. pinned.

Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
We are talking about a full out Salt knife right? I'm not sure I'd be interested in LC200n alone because the S110v has already proven to be completely rust proof for my uses other than the other metals on the knife.
As an experiment of sorts, the S110v Manix2 LW has lived in my swim trunks almost all summer. We have a pool so it spends a lot of time submerged, followed by hanging in the pocket of wet shorts overnight. So far, the blade has been unaffected, but the metal part of the lock has rust spots. It's seen some fresh water too, but no salt water yet. A full out Salt Manix2 LW would be pretty ideal for me.

Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
I like the idea if the CBBL can be made completely rust proof, OR if the rivets are replaced with screw together construction.
And if its FRN in lieu of FRCP, so it can be dyed. :P

Manix2 Lightweight with LC200N steel and translucent yellow frcp handles. You couldn’t take my money fast enough if that happened.

Yes, please!
Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
I’m not against the idea, but neither am I for it (I prefer weighty G10 on my favorite models, the Manix being one), so I abstain.

Definitely like manix 2 lw in lc200n. Be a great allround knife. The frn and wire clip are the perfect combination. I'll take 2
Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
I'd rather have FRCP (or FRN) than G-10 on this one. Fast, light, rustproof. Total win.

Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
The Manix and I just don’t get along. I think if I was still living in the mountains on our little farm trying to be as self sufficient as we could it would have been a favorite. But that was forty years ago and Sal was just getting going. I think a back lock version would have been best. Probably hard to operate a CBBL with wet, bloody and or freezing fingers. The Buck 110s and 112s worked well and we all had them.

Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
This is exactly why it needs to be a back lock. It is hard to manipulate some lock designs with glover, mittens, blood, cold, wet, on the hands. The back lock, if designed well, is fairly easy to manipulate.

Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
I have had great success with using my S110V Manix LW in wet (salty) conditions. It's really really resistant, even in seawater, but I still wish it were a rust-proof blade alloy. If I want a big back lock Salt knife, I'll just grab a Pacific Salt.
The only thing I think needs fixing in the design is to increase the surface roughness of the handle material. The edges of my FRCP are slick when wet. A bit of roughness would alleviate this and improve the design.

Yes, screw together construction would be good. Especially if they used the backlock as the model to base the LW on, which would also be my preference.

Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
I want corrosion proof knives, not just knives with corrosion proof blades.
Re: Lc200n Manix 2 LW Interest Poll
I agree completely, roger-roger.
Fortunately, corrosion proof ceramic bearing balls, spring metals, and threaded fasteners exist. The salt series has shown us the latter two aspects, and no proof is needed about ceramic balls' resistance.
It's absolutely doable.
