:O WOW! This is an incredible mid year catalog!!! There is a lot to be excited about!

Excited to take the time to read through everything after work today, but at first glance the Drunken, Salt 2 Wharncliffe, McBee, and Burnt Orange Rex45 series are standouts for me!

Also, interesting to see the Alistair Phillips model now called the Kapara. Wonder why that name was chosen over “redback.”

Oh maaaaan.... that is just a sick update. I thought I was done buying knives for a while outside the Techno 2, but holy crap there's gonna be a Spyderco x Sinkevich collab. It looks like a Spyderco'd ZT 0456, which I love, and I am just... wow. I can't wait to see that one this weekend if it's there at Blade. I'm already trying to tell myself why I don't need all of these other new models and then you bring this out.

Wow so much want. Drunken looks like what I wanted out of the spydiechef, with contouring and texture to boot.

Just noticed that the Bow River has an MSRP of $49.95! That is going to be a popular knife! :spyder:

Rex 45 is a High Speed Steel. It isn't stainless, is it?

The number of surprises in this catalog is just ridiculous! Never thought we'd get to see a Spyderco-Sinkevich collab... Glad to see the bow river is coming along as well. Super excited with just about everything in there! As usual, thanks to all involved!

Per the guide, it's equivalent to HAP40 in terms of metallurgy, so probably pretty similar (will patina, not really rust-prone with a minimum of maintenance).

http://zknives.com/knives/steels/steelc ... m=REX%2045

"Crucible high speed steel, with high red hardness"

It's interesting that under the "Proprietary" section, HAP40 is listed among many others.

EDIT: I just realized that, the description in the Mid-Year guide states that the steel composition is equivalent to Hitachi's HAP40, which explains the burnt orange handles.

I have plenty of HAP40 and don't really need another PM2 or Para 3 so I'll probably pass on those.

The Mantra 3, Amalgam, Smock, Kapara, Brouwer and Techno 2 all look great and like 'must have' additions to my little Spyderco family. I can't wait until they are available.
