Coyote Urban/UKPK

#1

Post by UrbanMoose »

It would go straight to the top of my Christmas list.... Who's with me?

I see the Urban and UKPK as present and future Euro carry classics comparable to how the the Delica, Endura and Para 2 are in the US; and having seen the handsome coyote/earth brown FRN used on the Endura and Delica, I think it's time we petitioned (begged) Sal to give the Urban and UKPK the dusky treatment. Personally I love earthy colours and feel the brown scales look characterful and friendly as well as rugged and practical.

Not sure what are the logistics of getting the dark brown colourant to the Maniago factory but I think a sprint run in brown (in N690 or any other decent steel) would surely make an excellent inexpensive edition to the Iconic black of the standard, the dark green of the BB limited edition, and the grey of the K390 sprint run of the Urban. Even less of an issue for UKPK at the golden factory...

No more Tonka toy blues and blaze orange for me; I want mine looking like it's meant to get dirty and be used rather then played with.

Am I alone in this yen for dark earth; or are there fellow tough mudders out there?

PS...
Maybe we could even suggest Sal and the crew add a drop point Urban to the line up.....
(The Gods have smiled on us before and it doesn't hurt to send up a prayer :D ;) )

A drop point coyote brown FRN Urban in a nice steel would be pretty much 'heaven sent' for an Englishman such as me living with restrictive carry laws  but loving good cutlery  .

What say you all?

I don’t have a UKPK, yet, but all of the glowing posts about it are certainly getting my interest. I have migrated to smaller, slicey, knives and a good slippy is fine. Brown? I would certainly be interested.

I think I'd like an Urban more than a UKPK, but I'd be in for either.

Upgraded steel excites me more than a change in handle color, though. ;)

I would be in for an Urban as long as it has some different steel to go along with the color.

I have UKPKs and Urbans, like both, and would welcome more in new steel offerings, say Sandvik? And I do like Coyote Brown.

Any objection to upping the spring tension on the UKPK to that of the Urban so that inertial opening is not so easy?

I think the spring tension is perfect on the UKPK. Smooth to open with stronger bias against closing. Perfect for a non-locking folder.

Coyote Delica?

On topic, yes I would also buy up some more UKPK.

Would love some new super steel in the mix also even though I am digging the 110v UKPK.
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.

Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

I love that there is such an interest in Spyderco's slipjoints. We need more

I'd rather have a Calyote, but I'd go for a UKPK too. Why not?

How about coyote brown FRN and S35VN? I would love coyote brown FRN and Elmax too. But basically the more affordable it is to get the steel to the Maniago factory the more feasible it'll be to bring the knife to production.

So do any of you guy know of good quality european steels that Sal might be ok about using?

How about Sleipner steel?

I know Maniago has made good use of this steel before...

If it was an Urban, I'd assume that it would be easiest to use a european steel. Elmax would be pretty sweet, and Sleipner has really impressed me in my Lionsteel folder so I'd love to see a (first ever, I think) Spyderco offering in it.

S35vn UKPK would be a pretty cool upgrade, but given that it's already available in s110v, I think I'd rather see some other steel. Maybe XHP? Or (cool thought), how about a UKPK Salt in LC200N?
