Today I used my Maxamet Native to:

Cut up a kiwi at breakfast, strawberries at lunch
At work, cut open the plastic bands on a few pallets of stainless steel sheets
Cut a few lengths of cardboard to lay in between the said stainless steel sheets
Did a bunch of whittling and carving on a pine stick while keeping an eye on the laser
Opened the mail at home

Slayed a cardboard army, shaved down an offending high spot in my drywall mud that was interfering with my wall tiles, and cleaned tile mastic from the gaps between my freshly laid tiles. I never thought I'd use such a nice knife for these kinds of chores and yet it feels so satisfying to actually use my knives rather than let them sit in a box and never see any use like my collection of 1970's USA made Gerbers which have never brought me joy... and never will.
Too many Military family variants... and yet not enough.

This morning I trimmed the edges of some pine logs I sawed for some Christmas crafts. This afternoon I opened a box that came in the mail, containg a new Spyderco. This evening I sliced a baguette and some onions to make a sandwich. Then later tonight I broke down one of the biggest boxes I've ever cut with a Spyderco, it was about 12' wide.

Busy day for my Police 4. Still super sharp even though it hasn't been touched up in weeks.

That's a giant box! What was it for?

Today I used my new CPM REX 45 Military to cut some cardboard at work, and I used it to slice and dice a tomato for lunch. It's already on the way to developing a nice, golden-ish toned patina. I like it. :)

I've been saving up the big 5' x 10' sheets of cardboard that come sandwiched in between sheets of metal at work. I think I have about 6 or 7 now. Once I get enough of those plus a bunch of rope and maybe some hard plastic/wood I'm going to do an informal unscientific edge retention test with the REX 45, just to find out for myself what it's capable of.

Part of a new heating system we were installing at work. There was a second smaller box for it too.

Cut up some ground sausage, bell peppers and a jalapeno for some stuffed peppers tonight. Still working at that patina on the Hap40 Delica Pakkawood.

Used my Squeak to chop up onion and bacon for an omelette. It’s maybe a small blade but very capable and sheeple friendly.

Those big sheets of cardboard y’all are always reducing to confetti make fantastic target backers for the rifle range. Covers up everybody else’s holes. Especially useful when zeroing a new rifle or working up new handloads. Good for shot patterns too!

How are you liking that REX Millie Bloke?

That's pretty much what I've been doing with mine so far. I've yet to really push the limits of the steel, but I like how it has performed so far.

Btw what kind of wood is that?

Cutting string to tie some branches from a downed tree. Then slicing oranges. I've discovered that you can get way thinner slices with a spyderco than a kitchen knife lol.

Used a Swick 3 to break down cardboard for the trash. Makes a nice box cutter.

Ah perfect question sorry my phone screwed the picture up a bit made the spydiechef look distorted. When making ground beef from ground check you want to partly freeze fresh Chuck Roast.

My God this knife is like a Laser Beam in the Kitchen.

In this last picture you can also see my Pacific Salt he stays in the kitchen :) If you click on the picture you can see a cleaned Spydiechef chilling out on a dish rag with no concern for rusting next to his brother the pacific salt.

Here is the final product. Meat grinder is a Cabellas. Have used it for the last year with perfect results.

Used my Schempp Rock to trim some outdoor plants around the house before winter. Worked great! I started with a 3.5" BK14, but that didn't have enough reach. I asked my daughter to get the biggest knife she could get from my knife case. She has good taste. :p

The Rock was perfect. Lotsa reach and yet easy to carry.

Hey Connor, those sticks are good ole Aussie Eucalyptus hard wood, dead fall.

Fair to say I’m duly impressed with Rex45. I idly whittled for over an hour turning sticks to chips, muscling through dry knots and cutting cross grain. The knife still has the factory edge which came typically Golden sharp and I figured now would be the time to find any weakness before I reprofile it. To my surprise I see no chipping or damage to the edge in anyway even though I purposely put (reasonable?) lateral force on the blade breaking out chips.

What impressed me most was after cutting all the hardwood and a bit of cardboard the edge seemed as sharp as when we started. Rather than go to the SharpMaker I decided I’d give it a light strop on chrome oxide on stiff leather. After half a dozen light strops it was sharp enough to slice cut cigarette paper, pop arm hair and dry shave my face.

Early days yet but if stopping is any indication of how Rex45 responds to sharpening this one’s a winner. :)
