Well it's official, I am now an accidental owner via forgotten pre order.

I ordered from Optic Planet on the 12th (they were out of stock at this point). I wrote to them to see if they would be able to cover my order.
From their response a short while ago: " We should be able to cover your order, but it appears that the ETA will be near the middle of October."
I hope this is true. It seems the knives are being released a few at a time to each retailer.

Thanks Jeff. I ordered from them on the 8th, like a lot of people. Glad to hear they think they can fill the orders.

I decided to measure the thickness behind the edge on Jr this morning. It measured .013" right on the shoulder. That would make it one of the thinnest BTE of all the Spydies I have. Only the Baby Jess Horn and Chaparrals are lower.

Oh, that is interesting! The spine looked fatter than the Delica, but I'm excited to see that it's still pretty thin BTE. Looks like a very slicey boi, glad to see that confirmed.

The Calypso Jr was the original slicey Spyderco - I'd take a slightly cqi version in almost any steel

I'm afraid to take it out of the box.

I just know my pocket will make it rust. :(

I would expect these to keep trickling out for awhile. In the Caly 3 thread Sal confirmed that the Calypso Jr is coming is small batches. The Caly 3 HAP40 sprint run was the same way. For those waiting for one of these, be patient and keep your eyes peeled. Hopefully you'll get one.

Edited....At this time, I don't think the maker can get the Compression lock down. They're getting better, but not there yet. They are also a small shop and capacity for Spyderco is not very large. That's why sprits like the latest Caly jr come in batches.

Just got mine, too bad I have disregarded the Calypso line until now cause this is nothing short of fantastic...

My only quibble so far is that the rear end of the spine of the blade (behind the jimping) does not line up with the lockbar when it’s in the open position.
Like this?

Yup, that’s it. Are other folks’ ones like this? Not that it’s a big deal but in looking at my other Calypso Jrs., none share this issue (there’s a smooth continuation from lockbar to blade spine, certainly nothing like this recent sprint).

Yes, that's how mine is too.

Mine is like that. For what is worth I can also middle finger flick it open and I can't do that with other backlocks

Interesting... And I mistakenly said jimping in my first post, which is obviously incorrect since there’s none on the thumb ramp. :D

Whatever little nitpicks I have are greatly overshadowed by how awesome this sprint is and how happy I am that Sal gave us another iteration in such a great steel after so many years. A dark green one with HAP40 would fly off the shelves too! ;)

Looks very cool. Flying off the shelves is the biggest problem!
