Gundamaniac, I seem to recall you stating you had hoped to have the Amalgam in M390 or something comparable? I suspect this model will be popular enough to warrant an Exclusive or Sprint, or at least I hope. I am perfectly happy with S30V though at any rate. It is a great steel, just not the flavor of the month.

More importantly, I am thrilled it is in production. I keep checking daily to see which vendor offers it first. I hope you design some more knives in the future. Maybe a fixed blade? I like your style, and your maker's mark is probably the coolest I've seen!

Jstn, thanks for the compliments! Yes, that's right, I was lobbying for CPM-20CV (or CTS204p or M390). I would love it if the model was successful enough to warrant an Exclusive or Sprint run, but I do feel extremely fortunate that it is in production in the first place :)

The mark has kind of a silly backstory. I wanted to arrange the letters of my last name in a square, with the L making up the left and bottom borders and the A and I nested inside in a stylized brushstroke-y way reminiscent of Chinese characters (I'm an ABC). Later, my wife asked why I wrote "rengong" in my mark...I'm illiterate in Chinese so I had no idea I had even written anything. After I found out what it meant (http://dictionary.pinpinchinese.com/def ... 人工-rengong), I had a good laugh and decided to keep it that way because I liked the definition, specifically the "manual work" part of it, which I thought was appropriate. :spyder:

That's a neat story. We must be getting close to getting these in hand, hopefully....

Anyone have any idea when this will drop? YouTubers are reviewing it so it must be soon.

Watching Nick play with the knife solidified my need for one. I already have the funds set aside in anticipation. Thanks for designing such a unique and interesting knife! I'm super excited to get it in my hands.

Man carrying this Mantra 3 every day has me wanting the Amalgam too. Spyderco really improved their flippers IMO with the new bearing system. The Amalgam is bigger than what I usually go for but it really does look great.

I literally check this thread every day in hopes that someone has an update or a release date lol. I'm looking forward to this knife is an understatement.

I've been checking everyday for this, the smock, and the cutlery shoppe exclusives. If this one drops first the others will have to wait.

I'm not sure if it's a sign of an imminent drop but Blade HQ has their pre-order live instead of just saying out of stock. Fingers crossed!

It still shows out of stock for me on BladeHQ. I don't know how their system works, does out of stock just mean preorders aren't live yet? I'm also excited, mainly to see what people make of it once they have it in their hands :D

Dang... Yeah it says out of stock for me now too. Maybe it was just a glitch or something.

I want it now, but on the other hand I'd still need to free up some funds for it....darn heating oil!
