I opened the plastic bag and it says "276 of 1200".

Jealous is an understantement!! I cant wait to get my hands on one. Waiting for it to hit the SFO store and its a done deal. I checked the smkw site...nothing..they must be in store only. Any chance of some pics?The stock photo thats on every site is terrible and doesnt show the sheath.

What's stopping you from doing it yourself? :cool:

Daos are, by definition, single-edged. 'Darn' (or 'Dan') means single, so this is a single single-edged sabre (as opposed to dual wielding sabres). The word is also used for knives in general. Attach it to the top of a staff and you get a 'Guandao' (or staff-sabre/glaive).

Agreed, I didn't ask for the knife even. I was flipping through the catalog and mid year catalog and I just happen to show it to him and mentioned that I thought it was a really cool blade but I couldn't bring myself to spend that much money and probably never have a use for it. He knows I collect Spyderco knives so he surprised me with an email for a pre order.
