I opened the plastic bag and it says "276 of 1200".
Jealous is an understantement!! I cant wait to get my hands on one. Waiting for it to hit the SFO store and its a done deal. I checked the smkw site...nothing..they must be in store only. Any chance of some pics? The stock photo thats on every site is terrible and doesnt show the sheath.
:bug-red-white I collect them all, and use them all! I use the excuse, "I'm trying to find the perfect one", but in reality, they are all perfect in their own way!

What's stopping you from doing it yourself?

Daos are, by definition, single-edged. 'Darn' (or 'Dan') means single, so this is a single single-edged sabre (as opposed to dual wielding sabres). The word is also used for knives in general. Attach it to the top of a staff and you get a 'Guandao' (or staff-sabre/glaive).

I've been waiting on this for a little while. My dad let me know on my birthday back in August that he pre ordered this for me.

Agreed, I didn't ask for the knife even. I was flipping through the catalog and mid year catalog and I just happen to show it to him and mentioned that I thought it was a really cool blade but I couldn't bring myself to spend that much money and probably never have a use for it. He knows I collect Spyderco knives so he surprised me with an email for a pre order.

Some Q & D pix before traffic slog. USPS del at 06:10!

Great balance; much lighter in hand than one might think due to form factor and balance and scales. Blade drills: smooth and easy, and *quick*.

Better grab these Darn Dao before the year is out because on January 1, 2018 the MAP or street price will be $422.47 instead of $389.97!
