I am a HUGE Lum fan and am very excited that Spyderco is considering making a production piece. :D I definitely would like a steel that would make it into a "beast choppa" though, not just a pretty piece for the collection. I grabbed some stills from the video, so these images are of course courtesy of Spyderco and Going Gear:

The Lum looks a bit long and front heavy, and probably heavy overall as well, but maybe adaptable I guess.

I'm hoping it'll be present for the holidays. You know around December.

Well seeing as Eric showed it publicly it must be somewhere down the line. I'm sure it'll reach Amsterdam but from what was shown in the video I think it'll be sooner. I know spyderco will exhibit knives for years and won't allow pictures or videos until production is planned or under way. I'd like to hope I'm right i just hope it's not released surprisingly early because i really would like more than 1.

I actually don't think it will fly off the shelves, that is to the general knife buying public. Now, enthusiasts and Bob Lum fans on the other hand.. :)

I wonder why they chose CPM-154 for the steel on a big chopper like that? While it is great steel, I would think O-1, 3V or 4V would have been among the obvious choices.

I agree.
Phil Wilson said CPM-154 is optimal for a fillet knife.
Not that anything is really wrong with it, I'm like you in thinking 3V would be optimal.
Joohnnie1801, thank you much for the info buddy.

5160, 52100, S7, M4... Etc etc. So many steels so little time. I trust spyderco will make a fine knife out of this regardless of the steel used. Remember its not the steel that matters. It's the heat treat that really makes the difference. I don't mind 154 for the edge retention and rust resistance though. I never chopped a car in half with 154CM but it stabs through a car door pretty well. Really wish I had taken pictures of the damage that manix 2 did vs the damage it received.
