Lots of cutting to do today, helping out a friend on his fathers farm. Hard to be a farmer with a torn rotator cuff! Figured I'll go with length on one blade and great wear resistance on the other. Plus...I just love this pic of these 2 together!

Stopped by the SFO today to buy a gift and handled the following:

• McBee; very small even in my medium sized hands

• Brower; felt good in hand, sleek profile

• Kapara; put it side by side with the stretch below and the blade is a little longer, feels comfortable in hand

Cut through quite a bit of rope and twine. The S30V PM2 held up pretty well, but the Rex45 Para 3 put it to shame. Makes me wish I snagged a PM2 with Rex45 when it dropped. A few of the ropes could have used the extra length of the PM2. First time I really did a lot of cutting with the Rex45 and it's still quite sharp. Very tough stuff, as advertised! Anybody that has one that hasn't given it much work is really missing out. No scratches on the blade either! First time I've really done a comparison test with hard work on different steels

Felt good to be able to lend a hand, but also a satisfaction using these knives as real tools today. Now to touch up the Rex and start from scratch with the S30V. If not for the Rex on board, I would have been thoroughly impressed with the S30V on its own.

I was tempted to use my SE Salt 2 today, but figured that was an unfair test being SE vs a PE.

I would have liked to get one of REX 45 sprints but I was saving up for the SB Calypso Jr. at the time. Maybe I'll get the REX Millie when it drops.

Curious, have you tried Maxamet? It's also very hard and surprisingly tough. Don't believe everything you see on YouTube.

That's one of the best looking edges I've seen posted to this thread in a while.

I’m a big fan of a thin flat convex like this one. I find the shoulders of the V edge causes the most drag, if you remove them you get a super slicer. I cheat a bit and run a 15 dps micro. It beefs up the apex just enough to resist damage for my average light tasks. Also, I’m lazy and it’s easy to maintain.

Weekend... I can carry a bit bigger than Normal... PM2. Used it to cut open a Net wrapped round bale for the Horse... scrape some corrosion off Electric fence terminals... cut a piece of radiator hose for the Tractor.

Not a bad blade day.

Funny you say that. As I was wishing I had got PM2 Rex45 when I had the chance, the seemingly always available Manix2 in Maxamet crossed my mind. I had the BD1 version and got rid of it and had been wanting another LW version of the Manix. But then, realizing how impressed I was with the Rex45. Made me think I'll try to acquire the Military as well. PM2 and GB2 are currently my largest folders. A Military would have been excellent for today's work.

I used to run a similar setup on my old Millie and Police 3. Convexed with sandpaper and a mousepad up to 1000 grit or so, then touch ups were on the fine sharpmaker rods in the 15 degree slot. They cut very nice that way.
