Yep, it's the Advocate. Just been using it to cut up some big cardboard boxes prior to burning.

It is a very nice knife. :)

Stretch2 It actually kicked the Spydiechef out of my pocket.

Totally did not see that one coming.

Just goes to show how Sal's personal designs have a highly usable quality to them!

Really enjoying the ergos in wonderfully sculpted FRN with a surprisingly capable VG10 steel. After loosing the Factory scary razor sharpness I put it on the brown stones at 15 degrees for around 30 passes on each side then did the same with the white stones on the sharp-maker and it is stupid sharp again.

After doing this it occurred to me how the sharp-maker was around prior to VG10 as far as I know and how well it works with it. It is almost like the steel and the sharp-maker were chosen to work together. I do not get this feeling from other steels.

As far as I am concerned VG10 is more of a super steel that many others holding that title.
The thing I like about VG-10 steel is that you get amazing edge retention compared to the effort it requires to sharpen it. I hear the corrosion resistance is phenomenal too. More VG-10 please.

I am seriously considering buying the Amalgam next how do you like it? Pros? Cons?
[/

Pretty much everything you’ve (hopefully) read about this knife is accurate. Great ergos, lightweight, thin grind, robust tip, flips well, weak detent, some have lock stick (mine does not), flipper tab hits your finger when closing. That last one isn’t an issue for me. I release the lock, swing it shut, get my finger out of the way and it closes.

Honestly, I love the knife but I think most people aren’t giving it a shot. It will be one of those Spyderco models years from know that people will learn to appreciate and will be hunting for.
I just received my Amalgam last week, wow it’s great. No lock stick looks and functions flawlessly.

Today, the one that got me hooked a few years ago. It’s my typical ski day companion, and today was no exception (N5 Salt will compete for the role when it arrives)

The red m390 after having carried the rex 45 one since it released. Among this, the rex 45 one or the Gray cruwear sprint I can't pick a favorite anymore.
