Sharpmaker Ease-Of-Use

#1

Post by mundele »

I am thinking of getting a Sharpmaker (so I can keep ruining rubberbands with that sharpness test) and I was wondering how easy it is to use. I guess I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to knife sharpness, and I can never seem to get a really good edge on a knife, at least using a bench stone. Can you all tell me how "Idiot-Proof" the Sharpmaker is, and what kind of results you've had with it?

Thanks a bunch...

mundele,
The sharpmaker comes with an instruction manual AND a "how to" video with Sal showing you step by step how to use it. I have Lansky, Smith systems and other sharpening devices/systems that I haven't touched (other than to move them out of the way) for the six months I've owned the Sharpmaker. No oil, no water, choice of 30 or 40 degree angles. Doesn't need to be attached to your knife blade. The BEST on the market unless you're a die hard "gotta use a benchstone" person. Cleans up with scouring powder and a scotchbrite pad. If I can get great edges with it, YOU can too!! Great for serrated blades too. It is truly "idiot proof"!!!
Oh, by the way, I like it!!! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

I too think it's great! The easiest to use and gets blades sharp fast. I recommend the system to all my friends and they respond with thanks.
