Kitchen Knives ?

#1

Post by Clay Kesting »

I just received a Santoku and a Paring knife (thanks James ) and have been bitten by the "bug". I eventually want to get the whole set but, before I do, I would like to make a wood block to house them. I need to know the maximum width of the blades of the 2 utility knives, the carving knife, the cook's knife and the bread knife so I can cut slots to the appropriate depth in my block. Can somebody who has these knives measure them for me, please?

TIA

Clay

The big Cook's knife - 1 3/4" (2" slot)

Larger Utility - 1 1/8"

Smaller Utility - 1"

Now I have to figure out what "safe place" I put my bread knife and carving knife boxes in! Aaarrgghh! Why do I do this to myself?!?!

Thanks James. I found a nice block of Jarrah at work so now I can start working out where to put the slots. No point ordering a carving knife or a bread knife for a while yet, I guess . In answer to your last question, so you get to play with lots of nice knives .
