Is the "R" knife still in production, I don't see it listed on the product web page.

Sorry buddy it's gone. The "R" was discontinued quite a while ago and there are no plans for its resurection. Sal offered it as a batch (meaning 1200 pieces only)and it really didn't sell all that well with a MSRP of $159.95. 10 bucks more than the C36 Military Model.
Great knife with a lot of personality though.

I suppose the fact that those were my initial "R" order and were still in the drawer for me to scan them is evidence for, or at least not against, Spyderco's decision not to keep making them. If you can only have one knife, it's probably not the one you want, but if you already own 19 sport-utility folders, and they're starting to look alike, then maybe....
