The Z-Max mule was the first I got. I find this steel extraordinary. I'd choose it over any comparable ultra retention steel out there I've had a chance to use so far. I have yet to see it anywhere else, though I haven't dug very far. Is the limited use...
Mule #12 of Cruwear in 2011. This was the first tool steel offering in the series, and the mule that was re-heat-treated and then underlined CRUWEAR on the ricasso, I think. The description on the Spyderco website states: Upstate New York's Crucible Steel...
Trying to learn about this material. I am definitely interested in comparing it to HIC that will come out in a Mike soon. Seems Scintered titanium goes back to 1973 but is this a new thing? They are using it in a blade steel. Non magnetic and supposedly...
Any chance that Spyderco could do a mule in Apex Ultra?
It looks pretty good to me. Basically a high hardness _and_ high toughness steel that left out stainless as a criteria to achieve good results in both hardness and toughness.

I have been testing this steel for several months now in one of my fillet designs and I am very impressed. When I was given the first test piece of this steel, I was told by the Uddeholm reps that the steel had the corrosion resistance of lc200n and the...
Just bought the newly released OD green black Cru-wear. I have been waiting a Dragonfly with black blade some time, and some other steel than VG-10.
My thought now are to get a regular Dragonfly and swap handles, so I will get all black.
I've managed to make some horizontal scratches on a Mule by sliding it in and out of a Kydex sheath I made. Am remaking the sheath to get rid of the problem*, but would like to re-scratch the blade vertically, by which I mean spine to edge, as from...
I'm so glad to have finally have the opportunity to be apart of the Edgucation! But go'lee if I didn't dang near have a heart attack!!! Website was moving slow so I was sure at&t throttled my speed at the worst possible time! When the link finally loaded...
So, I think both of these are on thingverse. It’s a great way for me to pocket carry my mule and the interesting thing is that when I hook the sheath on my pocket when I pull the knife out, the sheath just drops right in my pocket. It’s the smallest...
Just a simple data comparison exercise among the three mules from this year. Listing steel elements to kick off this thread. I'll add in other information as it's available.
:bug-red Hello everyone, I have some copies of Mule, of which I got two units and it is also possible that some of you have duplicates of one of the four that I have lost. MT01 at 52100; MT31 on S45V; MT29 on ZMax and MT30 on ZWear. If it so and someone...
Hi Guys,
I would like to make a sheath kydex or leather for my upcoming Mule.
I would like to attach it in the inside Molle panel of a Mystery Ranch Asap.
What do you suggest?
I am curious about Ulticlip or Tech Lok Bladetech.
Hey guys, I have been searching for some info on the most recent mules HRC data. I have found various sources for the older mules, (up to MT30) but have been unable to find reliable testing numbers for the most recent mules, specifically, MT30 to MT38....
Since the Mule Team Series is about exploring the cutting edge of knife steel products, what about a dip into the past? What I am proposing is a series of mule team blades using some of the first metals used by man. We all know what a great steel is...
Nothing new here, stays sharp for a long time. When it starts to dull it does it slowly. It seems to me it takes longer and longer to get worse. A couple of light passes on a Sharpmaker or Gauntlet is all it takes to get it sharp again. I thinned the...
I mentioned this in the M398 announcement but I haven't had time to test Rex76.. in a nutshell I had all the time in the world after getting caught in a house fire last September and have finally become healthy enough to get back to work full time(career...
If anyone else is trying to purchase a mule with a Mastercard and failing because the website doesn't allow a cc # to be entered when the Mastercard option is selected, it because, apparently, Spyderco no longer accepts Mastercard. This according to the...
Who's excited for the CPM T-15 mule? I hope it does well so Spyderco uses it in a folder! How many have experience with any version of T-15. It's been around so long you would think it'd be more popular.
I'd put about 4+ hours of wood shaving on the innermost edge, and while it was still cutting pretty well, it had lost it's paper-slicey sharpness right near the bolster. Decided to pull out the worksharp fixed angle sharpener and put a new one on there....
Thank you so much for accepting me in the Outstanding Mule Group
Looking forward to to learn and to share my experiences, I have many questions and a lot to learn about all those steels looking forward. Best regards to everybody.
I've been using my Rex 76 mule for anything and everything since I got it, and given the time of year, that has included slicing a lot of tomatoes, apples, peaches, etc.--in other words, acidic foods. I always rinse and wipe the blade when I'm done, but...
Makunochimaster posted this image in another thread...I was unable to find the video on a casual search, does anyone know what video this is from? Have URL?
I found some good maple to try to stabilize for mule scales. Should I just do donate money to charity and whack my thumb with a hammer then buy stabilized wood and be ahead of the game or try it at home?
What I know…
Very little
you need a vacuum or a...
Hello all,
Glad to get my first mule. I am not that knowledgeable about heat treat and this steel, so sorry for the basic question. I like stainless steels for most of my knives. With that, I would like to get this mule cerakoted with the elite series...
This was my first mule team purchase, and it just arrived about an hour ago. I slapped on the scales, stopped up, and payed through the recycling bin to find some virgin carboard...no box in my neighborhood will be safe. Anyone else's arrive today?
