That's a great video, thanks. Eric does a nice job of conveying what makes Spyderco unique. Credit to BladeHQ as well for how it was produced.Liquid Cobra wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 4:18 pmA thread for everything From this years Shot Show.

Re: Blade Steel CQI
In a folder that is probably the most relevant aspect for a lot of People. Me, i don't really care if i can cut 100 feet of cardboard or 120 before sharpening. :) Me neither. There are a lot of people who prefer something that can be sharpened reasonably easily, others that look for toughness for a...

Re: Gift for new sailor
You might still look at the Salt knives that use H1 steel - the Salt 1 and Salt 2 in particular - and see what you think. To me they seem better suited to sailors, while some of the others seem better suited to fishermen and other sportsmen.

Re: Blade Steel CQI
I would tend to think they have it pretty well figured out in the first place. Most of these steels have been around a while, even if they are new to knives, and they are careful. As to some of the comparisons - It may be Spyderco is going for a different mix of characteristics than other companies....

Re: eBay selling
Things may lean in favor of fixed price. There's a thread here, a lot of the recent posts are about eBay coupons. The idea is that when an eBay coupon that works pops up, a buyer gets a discount and seller gets their price, because eBay funds the coupon. Coupons seem to be easier for buyers to use o...

Re: Will the Paramilitary FRN replace the Delica?
Lock, choil, size. Plus you haven't seen the Delica 5 yet. :P Delica 5: For me still NO choil, still backlock hopefully... ;) Yeah, I don't see it getting a choil. That's why there are other models. And that's one reason why the Para variations don't displace the Delica. Clearly there's room for bo...

Re: Hard truths and observations
On a different note- Who’s buying a delica for $75 odd dollars when the new para3 lightweight is $90? Other than the lock which some have strong opinions on gotta say that’s a tough sell! In addition to the lock, there's also the choil vs no choil camps. The handle and blade of the Delica are narro...

Re: BD1N I still want to know
Keep in mind it's just meant to be something better than VG-10 or BD1, as an all around and moderately priced steel. It's not a super steel, so some comparisons may not be useful. [ Elliot Williamson, Founder of Ferrum Forge Knife Works] tells us Carpenter’s CTS-BD1N holds the potential to achieve s...

hi LC200N, Welcome to our forum. Patience is a good thing. Upset gains no points here. They should be shipping soon. They are very nice. Re: Two questions for Sal regarding the Chaparral design
I think he means that the entire "arc" itself is kinda of an hump. At least in comparison to the Calypso (older design) and the Urban (wider blade to offer more of a leverage arm to one hand open). sal I've noticed that too. I prefer the narrower blade designs as well, but the answer seem...

Re: New? Immerse!
Certainly I've come to realize that everything on a Spyderco knife is done for a reason. And I think of that when I read the critical comments people make that don't seem to understand the knives. You can understand a knife without liking it or wanting it, but so many of the comments don't seem to u...

Peak implies that was their best work, after which they entered a period of decline. Which clearly isn't the case.

3" seems too small when I'm in the woods, too hard to comfortably do what I need. So yes, most people should own some bigger knives.

Re: What would make you buy more Spyderco fixed blades?
Take the Spyderco ergonomics genius and apply it to all elements of fixed blades. As Evil D notes, having a way to carry them is critical. Though I don't know that there's ever going to be a way to put away a fixed blade without being very careful, I'm sure the right sheath could help a little. Any ...

Interesting discussion, especially the history in the article. But D2 is the choice only if someone values good edge retention and lower cost without regard to other aspects.

Nothing to fool anyone. No laboratory. 150’ linear cardboard to cut. :) Well, I can't tell if you're trying to be clever here, or what that is meant to represent. A typical light duty EDC user's day, or week? If that's the point,it's clearer just to say that. I've made 150' of cuts in cardboard in ...

Re: LC200N or BD1N
If someone put three identical knives with three different blade steels all sharpened to the same level of sharpness with no way of identifying what was what on a table and gave you say 150' linear feet of cardboard to cut. I'd bet my home 99.9% of the self proclaimed steel boffins wouldn't be able...
