I really like S90V.

sal
This is something that I had already noticed. Worth paying attention to. I am totally on-board with this.

Sometimes I get the feeling that sprint runs are something that Sal wants and figures that he will give the rest of us a shot at.

Yep, a LW version in something other than black (and other than s90v/s110v/maxamet) would get me to try out a Shaman.
I don't think a LW version would even be a Shaman.

When someone gets these in stock, I should order one along with the Jumpmaster 2 I keep talking about just to get free shipping.

Re: Carrying Jumpmaster 2 for Self Defense?

Sounds like a good choice to me. I think it would intimidate the average worthless no-good. I keep meaning to order a Jumpmaster. I often carry my Street Bowie in exactly the same occasions. If you can legally (or otherwise) carry a fixed blade in a readily accessible location, I think it is a far b...

Re: Are you a collector?

I just do what makes me happy and don't try to over-think it. I tend to overthink everything. And doing so makes me happy! I enjoy the word "completionist" that has popped up here. I have noted that sort of mindset and try to avoid it. I have never hunted down an out of production Spyderc...

Re: reasons to like the compession lock:

Yikes!! I hope what is under that bandage is not too serious. A good reminder to all of us to be careful with these sharp things. My only real cut was with a ZT. I am pretty sure a Spyderco will never hurt me. ;) That case was a frame lock knife -- with a spring assisted opening. Carried tip up. The...

Re: Your favorite/“the best” Paramilitary

I seem to either reach for the Cruwear with smooth black G10 (love that knife). Or the 20CV with pale tan scales. These days.

The Rex45 is very special and highly treasured.

My S30V PM2 was probably my first Spyderco and is still a favorite and a really great knife.

Re: Are you a collector?

How do I answer this if we haven't defined collector? Given that ambiguity all I can really say is "I dunno". If do have an embarrassing number of knives, perhaps that makes me a collector. I have more knives than I really need, so maybe I am a collector. I don't want to have one of every...

Re: Shaman Questions

Hello, ever since its release the Shaman has always been a knife I've considered but never purchased due to some things I consider flaws. That being said my overall 2 favorite models are the PM2 and the Native 5 and the Shaman is basically a cross between the two taking key things from each knife. ...

Re: Why all the Manix love?

If there is anything you can learn from this thread, it is that people have very different and very strong opinions. Smooth G10 -- People make a lot of noise about it (those who don't like it), but honestly it is great. I've been carrying and using my Cruwear Manix 2 all week and can't say anything ...

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?

The stop lock has to be pulled out from the frame in a similar action to the ball bearing lock that you have to pull back with your thumb and forefinger Well that is weird. I never would have guessed this by looking as the "see-through" photo of the mechanism posted earlier. I'll probably...

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?

I don't know a thing about the power lock, but if it is hard to open one handed, I'm not interested. But this may be a rumor starting. Its looks and handles like a backlock, but is _easier_ to open one-handed, Tom. As the second (small front) lock lever takes the main thumb lever pressure (instead ...

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?

So, lots of forum members here like to take liberties in telling other members how to enjoy their knives, and even how to spend their money. "Just buy a Police 4, its a better knife and so why make a Millie 2?" or "Buy a Native Chief, its basically a back lock Military." SMH Wel...

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?

Would rather Spyderco release a CQI'ed CW Manix XL. I know, you've heard it before :) Change the Manix XL to a compression lock and I would be totally on board with that. I suppose this would be a Para 4, but with a different blade shape. I am now in the camp of "leave the Military alone, it a...

Re: Strange question: What level of expertise would it take to "extend the blade length" on a Spyderco knife?

What you need is a blacksmith. Heat the blade up and pound it on a vise until it is as long as you like.

Just trying to pull on cold steel and stretch it won't get you very far.

Re: "Most Durable" available Spyderco Knife?

My nominations:

The backlock Manix (now discontinued).
The Shaman

This reminds me again that I need to pick up a Jumpmaster one of these days.

Honorable mention:

any Mule (maybe even any fixed blade)
any Manix 2

I'm not really thinking at all about steels, but overall design and construction.

Re: exclusives and sprints vs. production

Maxamet Although my own tastes are drifting away from this steel, it would be wrong to say that I think poorly of it. I have thought about peoples frustration with Spydercos Maxamet production models and although I really have no idea what is really going on, thought I would speculate. For Spyderco ...
