Re: Show me your sharpening setup

Another Edge Pro user here. I started with the basic setup and have added various diamond and cbn stones along the way. I really like cbn, especially for stuff like s30v, s110v, etc..

Re: The ultimate noob sharpening setup. W/Pics!

Personally, I prefer the Edge Pro. Its less complicated than the WE and there's tons of aftermarket stuff out there like strops, diamond stones, cbn stones, etc. I'm sure the WE is a great system, but I don't see the need for the dual sided setup.

The lower prices are nice. Kinda bummed though, bought a Mantra two weeks ago then I see Blade HQ has it now for $20 less. Oh well, next time.
$20 is not very much difference, I wouldn’t sweat that.
Nope, just one of those "My sort of luck" things :D

Re: Whats your favorite unusual blade shape?

I have to admit, all my Spydies are typical drop point or leaf shaped. Although, if I had to choose something different I'd probably go with a wharncliff like the Yojimbo.

Same here, although I feel like the PM2 fits my hand more comfortably, the Para 3 feels great in my hand with the MXG deep carry set to tip up.

If I was going to buy someone a Spydie as a gift, I'd probably get them a Delica. It checks all the boxes of a good all around EDC.

Re: Red Loctite Legacy...

I've only been able to break the loctite with a heat gun on the Taichung models, as for red loctite the fastest and easiest way for me was always using mapp or propane torch, and since thats out of the equation the tip of a soldering iron is probably the best bet. I think I would probably try to mak...

Re: Spyderco knife rotation? How many?

Lately I've really been liking the smaller knives. I've been going back and forth from the Para 3, Mantra, and Lil' Native. I don't really need a huge blade, so it's nice being able to carry something like the Mantra or Lil' Native that I barely even notice in my pocket, but still comes in handy at ...

What you really need is a 3000 psi tank of compressed air and a rifle. Its true, saw it in a movie. ;)

Re: Manix 2 XL Question

Did you try oiling the ball bearing, and the part of the blade tang where the locking mechanism slides into? If its flipping back open it sounds like the lock may be sticking or not closing fast enough. That could also be part of the problem with the blade play if the lock isn't fully seating proper...

Re: Surface Rust on DLC Blade

Thin DLC coatings have microporosity and won't fully stop corrosion. Not all coatings are created equal and some do way better. I think it is best to coat the blade in some oil which could stay in these pores. My thoughts as well, iirc DLC coating is usually only 1-2 microns thick which is not opti...

The comp lock was a sort of matte satin.
Yep, it's the same finish that's on the black g10 Manix 2.

My comp lock Lil' Native has a satin finish and I'm pretty sure the back lock version is the same.
