Re: Para3 LW in m390.. First LW exclusive

Just a note on the pricing, we did not inflate or pad the pricing at all, Spyderco sets the MSRP price and we list accordingly. Price is fine, Jordan, you guys are great. This knife is just not for me, I'm much more excited about the O1 18 Bowie that you put in the mail for me yesterday :) Let's ju...

I had rock on one of my P4 and it disappeared when I tightened both main and lock bar pivots a bit further. Just saying - you might see rock because ease of flicking is important to you ....

Very nice :) If you like that ZT95, you'll like the Manix 2 and vice versa, I think.

Re: What's good about S30V

You forgot one bullet: Spyderco should never have switched from S60V to S30V :) I dont want to derail the thread, but what was good about S60V? I have no personal experience with this steel, but what I read was it had to have quite low HRC to avoid chipping in knives. But I would like to see a test...

Re: External Stop Pins

Several Spydercos have a stop pin integrated with the blade, but invisible to the user. For example the Chaparral, Smock, Szabo, etc. This has mechanically the same effect (adds lateral rigidity), and doesn't obstruct the hole. Here, from Nick's video, in the Smock: https://photos.smugmug.com/photos...

Note the extra large detent ball as the old one popped out. Detent hole on blade had to be widened as well ...
Told you :) Now check for lock slip (spine wack). Good job in any case !

Re: Sent Brouwer in for bottoming out lock. Returned completely untouched

+1 on peening the bar insert as a solution. Don't peen the lock bar yet (not trivial, remember the detent). I suggest to send the knife back to Spyderco, there obviously was a misunderstanding. From your pics, the lock is not "bottoming out" yet. The off centering is caused by the lock-ba...

Re: I want to Dye the Brown Shaman Cru-Wear Olive Drab.

I am adding this for visual reference. : : : By the way, I am not bashing Spyderco at all. I love their products. I will buy the Shaman and 3-4 Spyderco knives every year. Hey, another idea: while you are waiting for the Micarta Shaman to be actually available, how about trying to dye a bra instead...

Re: I want to Dye the Brown Shaman Cru-Wear Olive Drab.

Funny story you have there :), even though you are a little rough on the old women .... But I agree with you. Never saw the attraction of Micarta, and these are worse than typical. I'm the exception though, you can probably sell the scales on the used market for a premium, so I suggest to just swap ...

Re: I think Spyderco should do more titanium framelocks

Spyderco has to refine their titanium frame lock design, too many with lock stick problems. Alternative is to have all of them with steel insert and avoid sticking completely. Regards, FK Agree. The Advocate and Ti Military clearly show that they know what to do. I frankly don’t understand why they...

Re: What is detail work????

OP, I agree with you as well ! When I use a longer blade for "detail work", I actually grab the front of the blade itself, between thumb and middle finger, for instance. Now, I like choils ... but I use them for the opposite, for rough work. Like cutting a fat piece of wood away from yours...

Re: Bento Box Something Something....

Although I already had this steel in the police model, much prefer the compression lock over the back lock. Had to cave and grab it. Doesn't look like these are as appealing to the flippers (lower profit margins), thank God! So for users that love the PM2, this is a premium catch, and available for...

Re: Poll: Preferred steel choice(s) for a Manix 2 XL Sprint or Exclusive?

I was just day dreaming about a 3V/4V DLC Manix 2 XL with coyote or OD green scales and was thinking of making a thread about it, and lo and behold I found this thread where 4V/V4E are the most prefered too! Instead of making a new thread I thought I'd just revive this one to voice my interest as w...

Re: Newbie with knife steel question...

Welcome ! Blade coatings don't necessarily prevent rust, there are contradicting reports, I guess it depends on what exactly corrodes the steel. D2 is more corrosion resistant than most tool steels, like 4v, maxamet, etc. So I think you want real stainless. And on the tougher side (side pressure). P...
