Re: Police versus military?

Aside from the lock and steel options, these knives are similar enough where your hands will determine which has the better ergonomics. For normal cutting tasks, like food prep on a cutting board, there is little difference. But for harder use, like wood whittling or prolonged cardboard cutting, fo...

Re: Police versus military?

Let me throw, figuratively, another knife into the mix.
I've been casting lustful glances at the Mannix 2XL.
I already have a Manix Cruwear and it seems to be much sturdier than either of my other two choices and the bearing lock seems to me to be the strongest lock.

Police versus military?

I have five Spyderco folding knives in my collection so far. A back lock, a liner lock, a compression lock, a bearing lock and a Dragonfly. I'm now looking to add a large folder. But looking at the police and the military they are so similar, apart from the lock type, I'm undecided which one to buy ...

Re: Spyderco

Change of direction, I was offered a Dragonfly, as new, for £40 delivered.
I'm now the happy owner of a Dragonfly.

to open the next one.
That's what I used most of mine for, expecting a Dragonfly soon which will become my main carry.

What do you use your Spyderco for?

Today I helped set out a field target course and I used my Tenacious for cutting back thick brambles and shortening a couple of range lines made from a third of an inch thick nylon rope.
Afterwards I carefully washed the blade and tested it for sharpness.
Passed with flying colours. :spyder:

Re: Spyderco

After careful consideration I've decided on a Chicago as my smallest EDC.

A lot of good suggestions so far!

A couple more good small options would be the Chicago and the Cat. The Cat was a favorite of mine for a while.
We have a winner, the Chicago is small enough for my purposes and still looks like a full sized Spydie.

Re: Smallest spyderco folder

What are you going to be using it for? If it's cutting threads and opening letters, then maybe the tiny knives work. But any more than that, and I'd agree the DF2 is small and light and can do a lot more. The tiny knives are difficult to get a grip on, when that's needed. I have a Manbug and a Finc...

Re: Smallest spyderco folder

There were some really small folders with clips like the Balance and Equilibrium, but they're discontinued. The new McBee - https://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-McNees-Killer-B-Frame-Lock--82801 should be out any day, and I'm pretty sure it'll be the smallest Spyderco with a clip that's currently...

Smallest spyderco folder

I have four folders, Manix Cruwear, Pacific Salt, PM1 and a Tenacious.

I'm looking for a fifth and sixth. I have a Military in mind for the fifth and am looking for suggestions for the sixth.

I want the smallest possible with a pocket clip, must have a clip as I don't want to lose it.

Hey, Luddite: Yes, it does. Here's some great information from an older issue of our newsletter, The Spyderco byte . Just scroll down to the second section. Kristi The lubricating oil most frequently used by Luddites? Spindle oil...(with their textile work). The oil used in greatest quantity by Lud...

Hello and welcome! I can second Imgur, although I'd like to add that you don't need a phone to use it. You can use a phone, but I don't have a smartphone and it works fine for me. Oil the joints

I have four Spyderco folders but aquired my first one only four weeks ago so bear with me if this is a silly question...

Does the pivot need oiling?

Most of my other folding knife have "oil the joints" printed on the handle or the blades.

I've just been offered a Manix Cruwear for £135 delivered.
Is that a good deal?
