Re: Hunter Blue?

It is also important to realize that deer see UV light. If something glows under a black light then deer can see that. It’s not a bad idea to inspect your gear with a black light. It’s also a good idea to avoid washing clothes in typical detergents as many will make clothes glow.

Re: Hunter Blue?

I doubt that a deer will see your knife but as others have stated deer can see only a small spectrum of colors and blue is one of them which is why hunters avoid it. I have deer hunted all my life and haven’t lost a knife yet. I’m not sure if I need a bright colored knife. I have always heard that a...

Re: Am I missing out on S110V?

I like S110V a lot. I don’t live near the ocean and don’t need an actual salt knife so s110V is my go to summer steel when the humidity approaches 100%. I learned many years ago through considerably abusing the Mule that it is extremely corrosion resistant. If I think I will be sweating buckets then...

Re: Is there a consensus sharpest folder?

Nothing to do with model or steel. Any model in any steel can be just as sharp as the other.

Some models do tend to come with thinner edges, thinner primary grinds or thinner blade stock but that is geometry which is different than sharpness.

Re: OKC, Ontario Knife Company Sold

It might be worth noting that Kabar/Cutco and Ontario were only about 30 minutes away from each other. Maybe Kabar can swoop up some skilled employees and expand a little? Maybe they will buy some of the equipment too? I would be pleased to see them get into the machete and bayonet market.

Re: OKC, Ontario Knife Company Sold

I think it is always unfortunate to see a long-standing American manufacturing company shut down. I like some of their products but I have also observed that they seem to have struggled the past few years. It seems as though their folders which were already outsourced as well as their govt contracts...

Re: New Stretch 2 XL: Compared to PM2 & Endura

I have carried the basic vg10 version almost everyday since I scored it from KSF for a great deal on Black Friday. It is in my opinion the best knife Spyderco has ever designed. For me it is perfect but l like bigger blades than most.

I have the g10 Cruwear version and I would love a K390 and a Salt.

Re: You guys can keep your straight spine Stretch

I have a first gen SE Stretch as well. I will second what D said about the distal taper. The serrations definitely get noticeably smaller towards the tip because of how pronounced the distal taper is. It’s a gem of a knife. That grind mod is similar to what Spyderco used on the Dyad. I am completely...

Re: The tip up/ tip down debate continues

And this video added absolutely nothing of value to that debate. It pours a bucket of humor over a topic some people take too seriously. It’s a common theme in Pete’s videos. I’ll agree this wasn’t his best work, IMO, but he tends to hit the nail on the head more often than not. Pete has a good sen...

Re: The tip up/ tip down debate continues

I don’t understand why we are still arguing about this. Carry however you want. Folks who are newer to the scene are gonna prefer tip up because that is how most knives come. I’m old enough to remember when most knives came tip down from the factory and that is what I got used to. Before I started c...

Re: *Spydie Summer Sale 2023*

BHQ has the Stretch2 K390 for $127.99 Has anyone seen a lower price? This one has been on my wish list for a long time. Knifeworks has it for $131.82, add to cart for price. Comes out a couple bucks cheaper for me, because BladeHQ charges tax for me, KW doesn't. Seems to be sold out at a lot of ret...

Re: St. Nick’s Exclusive red and black Goddard!

I hope that this being a larger knife and a somewhat dated style that it will be easy to snag. After some thought this is absolutely my style. The only thing I don’t like is the coated blade but I’m learning to live with that.

I like this. Some old school Spyderco quirkiness. I wonder if the blade stock is gonna be thinner than the standard shaman?

Thanks everybody! Had a great day! It rained all day but I went bowling with friends and family and then went out to dinner. I managed to bowl a 214 which is good considering how many beers I put down. It’s beautiful today so I am out riding the motorcycle around our beautiful New England roads. FYI...

Ergos are not just about the handle but also the blade angle. I find the Military to be perfect.
