Re: Salt color differences
Just curious, my Salts all come from authorized spyderco dealers so I’m not overly concerned about any of them not being genuine but I noticed my Native 5 SE in Magnacut is a slightly more orangey yellow color. Was there a change in color for the FRN scales on that model? Also I was thinking of pic...

Re: Sal, a handle forward Lil Native?
Perhaps it would be better suited the name lil bodacious? Could it still be bodacious if it is very small? Maybe the Lil' Spunky or Precocious would fit that size. :winking-tongue As for choils, I'm not sure it is a requirement, though it may be preferred by some. As an example, the McBee is much s...

Re: AI art knows Spyderco
So long as AI does not infringe (intellectual property; job opportunities), Job opportunities? Technology always eliminates jobs. Have you seen a car factory lately? It may create new job opportunities but on the whole it’s rare to see an increase in low skilled jobs when a technology takes hold. E...

Re: SALT Liners
I recall Sal saying that, its blade aside, any Salt using metals (for screws, locks, clips, and even liners) is using metals that are super corrosion-resistant. He’s also said that he prefers not to disclose what these metals are. That galvanic reaction is such a rare thing in Spyderco’s Salts (most...

Re: My on going salt steel comparison journal
While I much like LC200N (more for its toughness than edgeholding), and am still waiting on MagnaCut in a model I want, I’m gladdened to hear that an H1 Pacific Salt SE remains the king of nasty cutting. I imagine my new H1 Jumpmaster2 SE will perform similarly. I regard my Pac Salt so highly that I...

Re: Anyone else hoping for a 15V Wharncliffe Lil Native?
I find the relative lack of interest in the Lil Native Wharnie remarkable. I like mine a lot but do not feel the need for upgraded steel personally. I wouldn't say no though!! You’ve pretty much caught my thoughts, but while I wouldn’t say no, I do begrudge any ask that I think unnecessary. I’m jea...

Re: AI art knows Spyderco
So long as AI does not infringe (intellectual property; job opportunities), or deceive (plagiarism; deepfakes), or accelerate change faster than the public can recognize and get comfortable with its consequences (algorithms; Skynet; the Matrix), I’m OK with it. But, because my provisos are not being...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
The Charisma’s neutral blade-angle signals to me that it is not meant to be driven into the matter being parted. Thus, it’s not as robust as most Spydies with their negative blade-angles. Instead, the Charisma’s super-thin blade-stock requires only the slightest downward pressure to do the parting. ...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
No judgement intended, but I can’t recall a pre-Reveal reveal (or any of the 14 Reveals) where Spyderco featured a particular steel so hard (in both senses…).
Given BBB’s tweaks to 15V, Spyderco is making a real break from the pack (as if it really needed to).

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Any idea why the asterisk on 15V, anyone. Thanks, Wouter, for putting Spring in motion again. Just a guess but those blades probably aren’t actually 15V. Since they’re still prototypes, they probably used a steel like S30V and just marked them with “15V*” to denote the steel that is intended for pr...

Re: Military Sprint Runs No More?
Nick’s idea has legs but reshaping the Military2’s scales cannot perfectly mimic the Military Model’s choil. Turn both models on their spines and see why. But, if modding is not your thing, and to the OP’s question about future OG sprints, it’s not difficult to imagine eBay as “re-sprinting” Militar...

There will be companies that design and produce knives this way, unfortunately. “Ai designed” will probably be the marketing gimmick too. :nauseated I really despise this pseudo-creative Ai plague. i feel the same way. i'm not anti-progress or anything, but i hate to see the way people are running ...

Re: Military Sprint Runs No More?
Venting on changes in what Spyderco offers seems to me to miss the point of what Spyderco has been since its beginning. Do I miss the graceful curves of the Stretch? Sure! Oh, wait! I do have several of them (but not as many as BRJ has Military Models!). Any one of my Stretches could be my only Spyd...

Re: Tanto blades
I would not steer anyone away from Spyderco’s Tanto folders, whether the Bob Lum model or the PM2 version, each fine in its own way. Having both, I would, however, forewarn that these well-made EDC models bring with them a feature from Katana swords that are their inspiration. This feature allows a ...
