Re: Pacific Salt in Magnacut, with a handle like the Siren.
Based on the results of my corrosion resistance and edge performance testing I would like to see both the Siren and Waterway offered in Magnacut. —On a side note, I would very much like to see them both offered in serrated versions too. Especially the Siren. I feel like every Salt knife should have ...

Re: Free Handing On The Sharpmaker?
I like to freehand but the sharpmaker is an indispensable tool in my kitchen. I have my kitchen knives properly profiled so that I can hit the microbevel 6-8 licks on the Sharpmaker and have them shaving sharp again in less than 10 seconds. If you want to use low edges (and you want to use the SM ex...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
…i'm still irritated by the issue, it's implications, and the response from some around here to honest discussion, but none of that is the knife's fault…. Hey ladybug, I hope I’m not one of those people. Just wanted to reiterate (or clarify). I clearly see the issue with the grind. I am NOT trying ...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
This.^ It looks like this is more of an issue with the PE section not being ground low enough to “meet” the serrations. (As ladybug and others have already noted)

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
why can't it be a collector piece that you plan to use? i use all my knives in my collection. i don't expect them to stay perfect, but i certainly expect them to come to me in the condition they are supposed to be in. why can't we just call a problem a problem? i'm gonna have to just stop talking a...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
I kind of like the way the serrations end. I think that slight height differential between the SE and PE section will make a very effective edge for “scoring” pull cuts on flat surfaces. Kind of like a little “micro hawkbill”. Just make sure that corner is sharp and it should be very effective at t...

Re: The Vivi Conundrum.
Easy one for me. I would prefer a Stretch XL Salt. The backlock is a proven design in rust proof folders. I have had a number of issues with compression lock Salts that never occurred with backlocks. Compression locks are also more “fiddley” when closing which is not what I’m looking for in a marine...

Re: Spyderco Fillet knife!
I would like to have a high quality production fillet knife too, but like any knife, there are many styles and design options from which to choose. Though there is some conformity within the United States and Europe, when you start looking at various countries and cultures, styles of fillet knives c...

Re: What types of material do you cut the most?
Fish and game. Probably 95%+ of my knife use is cleaning fish. I might spend 20 minutes a day cleaning fish, maybe a minute a day on food prep, and probably less than a minute a week on anything else.

Re: How do I get over my crippling fear of corrosion?
My thoughts on this have changed a bit over the last 10 years. A decade ago I had no fear over owning a folder in a non stainless tool steel. I am not obsessed with aesthetics and don’t mind a knife developing some staining as long as it continues to function properly. If I had one non stainless EDC...

20220618_014041.jpg Not a good pic, and I had to edit it to fit, but: Salt Pac Salt 2 Jumpmaster 2 All of them cut extremely well. But, nothing cuts like the Jumpmaster. At least nothing I've experienced. Yeah, I have the Jumpmaster 1 and can agree that NOTHING cuts like that knife. It’s a monster!

Re: Stretch XL in SE or PE ?
Hey Marius, I have a little different perspective. I will probably buy the SE as my first Stretch XL but that is because I am waiting for the Salt version to come out. That may be a couple of months out or maybe over a year, who knows? What I would probably do in YOUR shoes though is get the PE VG10...

Such an awesome knife! I’m really excited to own one…holding out for the Salt though. I’d love a SE Salt model with black handle. Hope that’s going to be an option.

Re: want a fancy chaparral - which scales?
I don’t own any of them right now but I’ve seen and handled them all at Blade Show. The Sun and Moon for me all the way. Enough class for dress clothes but just a beautiful and interesting knife I’d carry anytime.
