Re: V-2 or ZDP-189?

I would say vtoku 2 is much tougher in the edge stability area, zdp189 is stainless but I have heard of it rusting on people and possibly even forming a patina, but should resist most rust and or patina and also have higher edge retention, also would be much harder to sharpen then vtoku2, but with v...

Re: Police4 Sharpening and re-profiling advice?

I've taken mine down to 15dps and have had great luck with that so far, I'm generally pretty hard on my knives so I do like going less then that even tho I know it could handle it. I just feel better with it at 30° inclusive, it was pretty easy to do so on my wicked edge, took half the time as takin...

Re: Stripped screw tips?

I'd agree with brainfriction, I've had the best luck with using a Dremel and creating a flat head for a screwdriver to screw it out

Re: Police 4 K390

I have done nothing to my police 4 besides wipe it off with my shirt and keep it clean, I've had no spec of rust, tho I've noticed it holds a finger print more so then any other knife I've used, and I get the feeling if I left a finger print there for an extended period of time it'd rust or "pa...

Re: Flicking backlocks - who does like it? And motivational post

I always thought it was odd when some people would say that Spyderco back locks can't be flicked open, or can't be closed easily one-handed. I used to like occasionally flicking my back locks. I never had any trouble flicking open my SS Police models, Enduras, Delicas, Pacific Salts, Salt 1's, etc....

Re: Flicking backlocks - who does like it? And motivational post

Haha I guess we are backwards, as I've never handled a kapara, tho I want to. Also i recommend the police 4 highly, if you like the endura like me, the police 4 only gets better and better, such a great steel, upgraded contours and a larger hole, it truely is a great knife, it's like the endura on s...

I'd say just follow the police 4,
Bigger hole, better contoured lines, finger choil etc etc

Re: Flicking backlocks - who does like it? And motivational post

I own endura, had a delicate, police 4 and unfortunately those are my only backlock Spydercos ive owned or own, and I've never shared the same feelings with other about them not being "flickable", as I do flick or have flicked them all, even the endura and delicas that have a smaller hole,...

Re: Is your interest in sharpening on the same level as your interest in knives?

I started with the lansky system which I got good results but till then I never could free hand sharpen, but once I got the lansky it just clicked in my head and it was almost natural, tho I don't have many free hand stones and I'm kinda ocd, so I prefer the perfect lines I get with a guided system,...

Re: Batoning, SMH...

Also I still own that pm2 and it is still rock solid and I've never taken it apart nor tightened a thing on that knife, and I usually take apart most of my knives or at least tighten something, I'd say most knives can handle a good batoning despite what people may think or say about it, I've done it...

Re: Batoning, SMH...

I make my own bows and I baton the general shape, and for a while I only used my s110v pm2 for battoning all the rough cutouts, I did this with the lock disengaged while holding the choil, which I found was the perfect knife for doing so, it never broke and for a while it was do or die with that kni...

Re: Why Don't You Like Framelocks?

I'd say, and is recommended by manufacturers, leave the blade towards the seem of a pocket, or my recommendation is leave it in a secure place where if your grabbing it your weary of it possibly being opened, as it is a real possibility, my tenacious did the same thing to me, but it also didn't have...

Re: What was your first Spyderco?

About 3-4 years ago I got the tenacious, man I do miss that thing, I beat the **** out of it too, batoned so many logs and wires, but gifted it after getting more sypdercos and other knives, wish I got into Spyderco sooner, before that I'd just buy a Walmart knife and use it till it got dull cuz I c...

Re: Shipping of internal parts

A while ago I accidentally dropped my Military and the blade started hugging the clip side. Unfortunately this knife was one of those affected by the red loctite fiasco. I decided to take the knife apart and re-apply blue loctite. I managed to unscrew all the screws successfully apart from one pivo...

Re: V-TOKU 2 Love

Honestly, regarding this sprint, I was concerned about how it would stack up performance wise to the plain Jane vg10, but now after having it and seeing how amazing it looks, I wouldn't care if it's on par with vg10 in the wear resistance category, because of how nice it is aesthetically. Plus, as ...

Re: Para 3 vs paramilitary 2

I like both knives the same, as I've gotten used to being able to hold smaller knives with my big hands, so I'll comment on steels, s110v is tough, but I've chipped it a couple times doing hard work as a groundskeeper, so if it's pure cutting I'd say go with s110v, tho it can handle hard use, I'd st...

Re: V-TOKU 2 Love

Man I've been seeing some wicked patinas put on vtoku2 blade, I've been careful not to put a patina on mine but how are you guys doing this? I love the edge retention on vtoku2 and how tough it is especially for how hard people say it is, I just don't want to put a crappy looking patina on it and ru...
