Assist Rescue
How well does the Assist work as a glass breaker? I just realized that my driver side car window is laminated, and I have been relying on a useless Lifehammer as an emergency safety device. The LifeHammer won't work on laminated glass.

Re: Haven't seen much Stretch vs Stretch 2 talk?
I have the original in VG10 and FRN. It fits my hand perfectly, so I can't imagine going larger. My hand size is on the borderline between medium/large. In some styles of gloves, I need a large. The Stretch 1 has the best ergonomics of any knife I own, and that is saying something.

Re: Just How Rust Resistant Do You Find Vg10?
I have a number of kitchen knives and folders in VG10. I have never seen rust, but then I baby my knives. I have used a Stretch 1 in VG10 when surf fishing, and it was soaked in salt water. I rinsed and dried it after getting back to the kitchen. I normally clean and dry my kitchen knives right afte...

Re: The perfect folding cooking knife?
Very pretty knife, but "pricy" is an understatement. Frankly, for hiking I would be thinking of a bird and trout with a thin blade. A couple come to mind. North Arms makes a nice one, as do many other companies: Moki, Bark River, Spyderco, etc.. A large folder can wind up getting used for ...

Re: The perfect folding cooking knife?
My cooking/kitchen knives vary in size from 3-4" paring knives to 7-8" chef's knives, to 9-10" carving knives. I don't see folders as reasonable options for cooking, unless you can point me towards a folding petty with a 5" blade.

Re: Why is the Domino so overlooked as an edc ?
It is a flipper and I don't want that in a Spyderco. The handle is more than 4.5" long, but the blade is 3.1" long. If I am going to use a knife with that long a handle, I want more blade length. I have Spyderco knives with 3" blades and much shorter handles. If I want a knife with a ...

Re: S110V question
You may want to try a different angle, say 40 degrees inclusive, if you are going to strip wire. I recently got a bird and trout in S35 V (RC 60) with an edge grind of 25 degrees inclusive. It chipped when using it as a paring knife on a wooden board. I put on a micro bevel, and no more chipping. Yo...

Do the lightweight models have liners? The description on the Spyderco website doesn't say this, that is why I am asking.

Re: Yard knife Manix2?
I have been looking at reviews of the G10 version with s30v steel. Is this a one handed opener when new? How does the knife hold up over time?
I don't own a knife with this lock and was curious about how well it works.

Looking for an excuse to get another knife. I hate auto correct, and should learn to use preview.

Re: Yard knife
There seem to be lots of recommendations for the Manix 2. I have a Stretch1 in VG10, but was long for an excuse to get another knofe. Almost all of mine have sub 3" blades.
I was thinking of the Endura or Manix, bit still unsure bout how to go.

Yard knife
What do you like to drop in your pocket when doing yard work? I am interested in a stainless steel (VG10, S30V, S35V, or another stainless steel) and prefer a back lock. I need to open bags of stuff (anything works here), but sometimes I want to slice a thick vine. I use something much larger if cut...

Re: Poll: Flippers
Own well over 500 Spyderco knives and, aside from those that ride on my key chain or in my watch pocket, I carry them loose in my back pocket. Have no interest at all in models equipped with a device which I strongly suspect makes it more likely for them to partially open in my pocket accidentally....

Re: Rec on best pocket fishing knife
I have used the Stretch with a VG 10 blade for surf fishing. It is light in the pocket. However, I usually prefer to use a fixed blade knofe for cleaning fish.

Re: Spyderco C152RNP Chaparral
I looked at the Raffir Noble website and the material was described as a translucent epoxy. This should be up there with other handle materials. Is this an "acrylic" as the video states? I hope that this can be cleared up. The knife is tempting. I have 2 Chaparrals, and don't really need m...

How durable is the handle material? It is hard to tell much from the description. Some plastics are very tough and strong, but others not so much.

Re: Sage 2 vs Caly 3
I have a Caly 3 in my pocket right now. I don't care for metal scales, and prefer a good lock back. The Caly 3 is as large as I wish to go in a knife with a 3" blade. Great knife!

Re: Smallish EDC Spyderco
It is hard to make recommendations without know what your work environment is like. A smaller knife is better in an office, and the Chaparral has a blade the size of the persistence. It is a nice knife. If large blades are scaring your coworkers, you may want even smaller than this. I often use a Ch...

Re: Spyderco Medium vs Fine Bench Stone
Get the fine to use after the India. If you are going to sharpen steels like S35V Or other high carbon stainless, I would get both- the medium and fine. Frankly, I don't see much of a difference between the edge from a fine India and medium ceramic.
