Manix 2 LW? And REX 45 ? Just great!!
But... I already have the version that is even more to my liking: UN-coated blade and burnt orange...
I agree and same here. I'm carrying my Rex45 now and it is my favorite steel based on the brass rod torture that you can find on youtube.

Re: Forum Exclusive Kickstarter

My suggestion is to read previous recent threads on this subject that have b listed . MG2 We get occasional threads for a possible forum knife where the OP asks for a _____, basically a model/variation that they want and probably nobody else on the forum would want. To get some form of group buy go...

Re: Decision time what to purchase, don’t say by both

I have an XL and I have several versions of the standard and the standard LW. I think the standard LW makes a good EDC knife, even if you have big hands and you want to use it as a work knife. Nothing against the XL, I like it too. I think if the XL was the knife for you then you wouldn't be asking ...

Re: Knife Rotation Journal - OCT 2023

I've done the rotation thing for a long time. I usually averaged 6 knives in my rotation and would carry each one for a work week. I decided that this was taking too long to get back to a knife that I had just carried so I changed to a 2-3 day rotation. This meant I would go all the way through 6 kn...

Re: if you could only own a 5 Spyderco knife collection:

It would be interesting to let this thread run until it slows down, then put all of the models in a list and determine statistics such as what percentage of different lock types, what percentage of different models and different steels.

Re: if you could only own a 5 Spyderco knife collection:

I own Military, Manix 2, Para 2, Tenacious, Bradley 1, Mule. I have 1 Bradley, the rest I have multiples of in different configurations.
If I had to reduce to 5 of the ones that I have I would choose Manix2 LW Rex45, maybe even 2 of them, Para2 in K390, Para2 in M4 or Rex45, Military in Cruwear,

Re: Knife horror stories

I was on a big fishing trip with about 20 people. We would catch quite a few fish Friday night and Saturday and cook some of them Saturday night. I was opening some packages and set my knife on the table. I turned back later to get it and it wasn't there. My uncle picked it up and was scraping the i...

Re: My Spyderco observations from recent unsuccessful Colorado elk hunt…

It wasn't that many years ago when all camp and hunting knives were carbon steel. When I started being interested in knives 40 or more years ago most outdoor knives were probably carbon steel. 20 or 30 years ago there were more knives available in stainless steel and steels like 440C and ATS34 were ...

Re: Best Edge Performance Steel between these choices?

I own blades in all 4 of those steels but I haven't used all 4 of them enough in enough different conditions that I could make conclusions, my conclusions are based on evidence I've gotten from other people. I chose Rex45 because of a video I saw of someone cutting into brass rods, where they twiste...

Re: What’s on your current short list?

I don't have any specifics but I think this is more than just wishful thinking... I would be really interested in a PM2 lightweight, and maybe something in Magnacut. If those 2 were combined into one model that would be great. I might also be interested in an upgraded Bow River if something like tha...

Re: MT36P – K294 MICROCLEAN Mule Team Dropping Soon!

Why is K294 more expensive? It's just a rip off of Crucible's CPM 10V. I thought K390 was the one similar to 10V, that's what makes this somewhat confusing. I did a really quick search to try to answer my own question and found a 2012 thread on BF. Apparently in cutting performance 10V and K294 are...

Re: Spyderco Bow River

I am planning to buy a Spyderco fixed blade - Bow Rive. I've never seen it live, so I don't know if it will meet my expectations. I looked at some videos and reviews, someone claims that it is too small for an adult. If you could find dimensions such as handle length you could compare it with other...

Re: Manix 2 more popular than Paramilitary 2?

I own both and I like both, but I think overall the PM2 is much more popular. I bought a G10 Manix 2 a long time ago and I liked it but because of its weight I thought it would be a better work knife than EDC knife. Then I bought the LW Manix 2 and I like it better but I'm not ready to say I like it...

Re: Why carry two?

8< --- There are lots of horror stories on the internet of people borrowing a knife and then using it to scrape something off of their shoe, or pry open a door, or hammer on some concrete, etc. I've heard these stories too, but haven't found it to be a problem of relevance. I haven't had people ask...

Re: Why carry two?

I tried carrying 2 for a little while. For me there was basically one reason- I might want to cut something that I didn't want to cut with my good knife, so I would carry a cheaper knife or a knife in less nice condition. A related reason would be if someone asks to borrow my knife. There are lots o...

Re: The tip up/ tip down debate continues

Apparently I don't draw my knives the same way as you ;) I don't pinch the end sticking up out of my pocket. I place my thumb all the way into my pocket, then draw the knife. If you compare my grip to when I start my draw to my grip when I initiate the opening action, they're one and the same. Draw...
