Re: OG Military Replacement
I lost an OG military recently and would like to replace it with another. I have the MilItary 2 and it is very nice, but my wife recently claimed it. Although the 2 is great, the OG has some nostalgic value to me as I has an early ATS-34 that I basically wore out and the one lost as a BG-42. How is...

Re: Manix Talk - Full sized VS Mini
One thing that is definitely cooler concerning the two in the pic: The EDGE(bevel) of the XL... I've noticed that too. I previously owned an XL version w/ DLC blade and this accentuated the wide bevel. I'm guessing that the XL blade is thicker behind the edge. Now the only XL I own is the jade/m4 v...

Re: SNK Manix 2 LW is coming!!!
I just have no justifiable reason to buy a LW manix - I own way too many knives in that blade size bracket that literally just gather dust. I hope you all scored them if you wanted them 👍🏻 I didn't manage to get one but the LW Manix is one of my favorite knives. I have S110V in blurple and Rex45 in...

Re: Gayle Bradley 2 Cru-Wear vs Gayle Bradley 2 M4
I think cruwear is a better steel for the average user- easier to sharpen, a little bit tougher and more corrosion resistant. For an enthusiast with the ability to sharpen M4 then it's harder to decide. I've owned PM2 models in Cruwear and M4, I sold the Cruwear and kept the M4.

Re: Mystery Box
I'm late to the party, but is the point of buying a mystery box, to resell it? Is that the primary reason they're bought? I'm so picky about knives I can't imagine forking over $400 for unknown knives to add to my collection. Any internet feeding frenzy like this you can bet that most of the buyers...

Re: What knife do you actually carry and use the most?
I carry one knife at a time so that is the one that I use while carrying it. I think my Manix 2 LW Rex45 gets carried the most. In my rotation I have PM2 in S110V, M4 and K390, and Manix 2 LW in S110V and Rex45. I'm sure the Rex45 gets carried the most, at some times I just keep carrying it so it mi...

Re: Gotta rethink my hunting/gutting knife…S110V FAIL!
I'm thinking Cruwear would be a good choice.
I have an old Manix 2 in 154CM with the heavier saber grind blade. I think its blade geometry is a bit tougher, I don't know how well the steel would do compared to Cruwear.

Re: New Steel Testing Method! My wife and the cupboard.
I am always wondering what characteristics a knife has to have in order to survive the use of non-knife enthusiasts who still need to cut things. I think a low Rc is the key, low enough that the blade will bend and not chip under almost any circumstances. My wife has a wide range of low end knives ...

Re: Forum Exclusive Kickstarter
"Problematic" doesn't begin to cover it. Something like this would have to be a sprint rather than a new model, but still it would be difficult to get any consensus. I think the person who sets up a kickstarter gets to choose the particulars, they have to choose something that would be po...

I would select based on the size blade you need for your use, and what meets your local laws. A little extra handle is not a problem.

Re: A Gayle Bradley 2 in Cruwear!
Here was my first trial attempt on a different Spyderco. Left too much extra wood on it leading to it being broken by the router. Plus having my fingers that close was touch and go. I think a spindle sander could work. I was even thinking a dremel with a sanding drum strapped to the side of your wo...

Re: Torque and lightweight models
When the LW Manix 2 came out in S110V version people were trying to take the blades out to put in G10 handles. The LW handles proved to be very tough and resistant to intentional destruction. I have the S110V version but I now have the Rex45 version and that is my "work in the garage" knif...

Re: What knife steel and handle are best for cold weather high altitude hiking?
These days my hiking knife is a LW Tenacious. It is a good knife for my use, inexpensive enough that I could replace it if it was lost, and legal to carry in Colorado.

Re: What watch you're wearing?
Today I'm wearing a Deep Blue diver with T100 tritium tubes. I mostly have owned dive watches and some Fliegers but in my rotation today I have 2 chronos and 7 dive watches. I also have a separate batch of 5 watches that I wear on weekends, working in my shop, etc. This batch is all quartz and has 3...

Re: What do you carry hiking?
These days I carry a LW Tenacious. I don't want to carry an expensive knife like a limited PM2 or Manix 2 and I need to carry a blade under 3.5" because I'm frequently hiking in Colorado or going through Colorado.

Re: Favorite non spyderco knives?
My favorite non-Spyderco folding knife is the Benchmade 913 Stryker. Before I got so far into Spyderco knives I had a lot of other knives in my carry group. After getting into Spyderco knives I only have one other knife in my rotation, the Stryker.

Re: Sharpening Para 3s, I can't reach the very bottom of the edge! Any advice?
People don't like sharpening choils but that is one thing that they accomplish- they eliminate that little bit of edge that disrupts the geometry when using a flat stone. I don't like any edge with recurve because you can't properly get to it with flat stones. Most of my blades have the little bit u...

Re: Rex 45 vs K390?
I have some older Spyderco PM2 knives in M4, I have Rex45 PM2 that is over 1.5 years old and I have a K390 PM2 that I don't know how old it is. I carry all of them in my rotation. All of the blades are still shiny silver. I'm not sure most of us could tell much difference between the 3, maybe not an...
