Re: Tea Tree Oil On Steel
I don’t know, test it on some clean shiny mild steel first for a week or so.

Yeah! nice surprise for no extra charge! Steve offered to replace them with acrylic if I wanted. Heck no! I prefer wood handles on most everything. He said the wood is bubinga.

Re: Anyone use a Straight razor/Artist Club razor/Shavette razor?
One of mine in particular, has a truly evil soul. I’ve not yet decided whether to send it straight to ****. Which one is that? Maybe it needs a slight mod? If it has a sharp point, I can well believe it. It’s the gold dollar with a spiral twisted and bowed blade, and hollow ground deeper on one sid...

None of the razors on their way are collector quality, but look to be good users. There’s only so much one can determine from pictures. It’s always a gamble, we’ll see when they get here.

Re: Anyone use a Straight razor/Artist Club razor/Shavette razor?
Welp, I just bought 3 vintage razors off ebay in the last 48 hours. Something's not right.... :grin-sweat :grin-sweat It's a disease and it's contagious! What did you buy? I'm saving to get another one, myself. I hope it passes quick. Let's see, a Wostenholm IXL, a Wostenholm true pipe, and a Wade ...

Re: Straight Razor from Spyderco
I get good shaving edges from the UF, but among other things it required flattening and lapping mirror smooth, which was a lot of work. I use a good cushion of oil in the last 50, very light (blade weight), strokes. If it were the only finisher I had available, I'd be ok with it. Having said that, I...

Re: Let's see your very first Spyderco (or at least the one you've had the longest)
https://i.postimg.cc/w60skvS9/IMG-9129en.jpg looks like someone took it flat to the stone then gave up. What's the story? Wanting a smaller version, I chopped both ends then thinned the blade. I was headed to a zero grind, but certain it wouldn't hold up for me. It's presently much thinner than the...

The quality sounds promising, and if it's there I'll order more.
I'm not aware of all the options but will request a full list before I get another.

Re: Anyone use a Straight razor/Artist Club razor/Shavette razor?
I got the least expensive he has, 5/8 acrylic handle. I guess the style of point doesn't factor into the price, as he quoted price first then ask me which point? I chose a spanish point. At the present exchange rate, it's $110 USD delivered. If the quality is there, (geometry, action/fit, shave, mai...

Re: Anyone use a Straight razor/Artist Club razor/Shavette razor?
He has razors priced around $97 if you like the clear plastic scales. These look better than some higher dollar customs that use those scales. https://www.facebook.com/steveandkelcolling/photos All in AUS $. These are just samplings. For that price I would try one. I don't have facebook but suppose...

Re: Anyone use a Straight razor/Artist Club razor/Shavette razor?
On the way. This custom order was only around $160 to have it made the way I wanted. I opted for no blade etching. The scales are enough bling for me. Anyway, that price is very reasonable. He has options that are cheaper. He also as 0-1 steel on full custom razors, if desired. This blade is 1.2210...

Re: Anyone use a Straight razor/Artist Club razor/Shavette razor?
If it shaves and maintains as well as it looks, it'll be a winner.
I think both those makers import blanks from one of the last solingen makers in operation.
I've thought about trying one to see how it stacks up against vintage blades.

Re: Anyone use a Straight razor/Artist Club razor/Shavette razor?
Best soap ever devised? haha maybe, certainly better than anything so far... but it's the only tallow soap I've tried. I might try a different one with tallow when this gets used up, but that might be a while.
Right now, I'm experimenting on streamlining sharpening and touchups.

Re: Anyone use a Straight razor/Artist Club razor/Shavette razor?
I suspect the recommendation to keep mitchells hydrated is to maybe speed up the lathering process?. I don't like a soggy puck and don't mind the extra time it takes. I also have to wonder if the tallow seperates while setting wet for long periods. Touched up both razors yesterday on a black ark fol...
