Re: Para 2 as EDDC
Just for the pleasure of beign a contrarian,i must say a knife is the worse SD tool ever.Firt, the attack will start with you having your knife in the pocket, and by the time you will have it in your hand, open,it will be all over.Second,if you will use a knife as a deterent and you will brandish it t...

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
guys might not know everything but surely they know something when it comes to the size of the knife necessary to get the job done. Right? Without a doubt. As I was watching the videos above, I was struck by the fact that the blades don't look any longer than 2.5 inches. If one knows what they are ...

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
They approached with malicious intent and I reacted with a level of violence they did not expect. To this day I am convinced that is why I ended up back home that night instead of in the hospital (Like I assume they did), or worse.... ....It was fast, it was dirty, it was survival. It was primal in...

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
...So tell me again why using a knife for self-defense is a bad idea? If that is all you have, then it is what it is. If you are trained in knife combat, you may have a good chance. But the same can be said about a brick. The problem is the unpredictability of a situation. Again, if that is all you...

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
People underestimate the "deterrent" factor when drawing a knife. Whereas if you brandish a firearm, you open yourself up to all sorts of legal trouble whether you use it or not, deploying a knife is viewed differently from the legal perspective (unless you are "menacing" etc......

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
you can kill someone by using a knife, but you can't stop someone by using a knife. I got to say I generally agree with h8speech when it comes to using a knife for self defense (but not with name calling nor actual hate speech on the forums). There are very particular cases where I can imagine how ...

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
Without a serious training, which i dont think you have, you should not even dream to carry a knife for SD.Delicas and Enduras are the best choices, due to the fact they had a trainer version. Granted, after I've dispatched the assailant with my copper pointed 9mm, I may still want to carve him up for...

Good, because even your frozen nipple doesn't make me think you are tough. Although I'm sure it has a nice glass cutting edge to it.

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
I'd like to come along and watch sometime is all. :) I certainly intend to get into no more knife fights in my life, I've had enough of that ****. Fighting with knives is always a lose-lose situation, even if you've got a massive skill & experience advantage over your opponent. Which is why I d...

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
I see a few posts discussing self defense; aren't the hawk bill serrated knives designed for self-defense? I'm not an expert or anything - just what I have read. what you've probably read is something long discussed in these and other forums, Hawkbill blades make great utility knives, with incredib...

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
you can kill someone by using a knife, but you can't stop someone by using a knife. Sorry, this does not compute. And fencing has nothing to do with using a knife for SD. If you are armed with a knife it is much easier to inflict lethal injuries on someone than it is to stop them from attacking you...

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
Is the little Spyderco emblem on the blade a different color if the blade is black coating vs. DLC? In looking at various images online, I see different color emblems (one grey and the other white) and I assume it must be because of the different coating. Perhaps it's just different lighting in the...

Re: Para 2 as EDDC
I plan to pick up a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 to use as my everyday defensive carry knife. I have a Military now and love it but now want the 4-way capability of the Para 2 clip. First, I've read about the "drag" of the DLC coating when slicing but I think that applies more to food prep. Is...
