Re: Full Titanium Southard Sprint?
Yeah, going with contouring would significantly change the knife. The Slysz Bowie is just beautiful, and I wouldn't mind seeing those type of scales on more knives. It will up the cost, but I think that can be justified on a sprint run. I'm happy with the blade, I just want milling and better washers.

Re: Full Titanium Southard Sprint?
Would you want contoured scales like a Slysz Bowie, or keep the same basic shape as the lock side? When I think Southard and full titanium, I think milling; I'd like to see that if this were to happen. One last thing, better washers. Here's Brad working on one of his Tolks. I like the fact that his ...

Re: Phil Wilson Thoughts on Steels
The performance of many of our "inferior" and "outdated" steels is absolutely fine in the real world... Moreover, I think the problem is that there is a tremendous amount of groupthink when it comes to certain parts of the knife world. As a newcomer myself, I get swept up in the...

Thanks for the link. The stuff on S30V is fascinating.

Re: Next PM2 sprint(exclusive)....any whispers ?
Wouldn't CPM154 be a definite downgrade from S30V? From a sharpening standpoint, I think CPM154 has the edge in ease of use. Since I have relatively docile usage day-to-day (I work in a school), I'd prefer the easier sharpening since I won't push the steel to its limits while at work. That's why I ...

Re: Next PM2 sprint(exclusive)....any whispers ?
There was talk of one in 52100. It seems as though CPM154 or RWL34 would both go over well. I also think that A11 or 10V are good options. We already have Cruwear and M4 so maybe CPM4V is redundant but I would be interested. I am swimming in Para2s and never really carry them since almost completel...

I think it would be cool if they worked with some of the makers that have licensed the compression lock like Jessie Jarosz and Kevin Smock (push button compression lock please).

Re: Sage 5 and 3 in 1 oil
I really think lube is a highly over complicated subject in this hobby. Yeah, this can be true. And I'm not helping by saying, "Go buy brand X oil; it's the best!" This YouTube video by Apostle P does a pretty good job at showing that sometimes the best oil for the job is the one you have...

Re: Sage 5 and 3 in 1 oil
I've mostly heard of 3 in 1 oil as being used to coat a carbon steel blade, not for lubrication. I'd go with Nano Oil.

Re: Mule Steel to Sprint Run Steel
Hi P_atrick, Welcome to our forum. Odd steels on production pieces are usually the results of requests made on the forums, and requests from distributors for exclusive models. sal Sal, I haven't even been a forum member for 24 hours and the CEO is welcoming me (on the weekend no less). Plus you ans...

Re: Past Collaborator, New Design? New Sprint Run?
I'd love to see another Southard collaboration. This time I'd want a Spydie hole, internally milled titanium scales, and some kind of flourish around the pivot.

Re: Name Five Steels All Spydie Fans Should Try
I'm interested in how often your list of top five steels changes. I see a lot of Maxamet and Cruwear, what did they bump off the list? I also see some longtime Spyderco steels as well.

Re: Mule Steel to Sprint Run Steel
Bummer. I've already got about 90% of a sprint run PM2 saved up. Hey Sal, give me something to spend it on! I kid, kinda. I'll keep my eye out here for any rumors.chuck_roxas45 wrote:When Sal takes pity on us steelheads, he looks for a steel that he knows we find interesting.

Mule Steel to Sprint Run Steel
I am wondering if anybody could shed some light on the process of blade steels making their way from a Mule knife to a sprint run, specifically the PM2. This assumes, of course, there actually is some sort of standard process. Basically, I want to know if RWL34 will end up on a PM2. It was already o...
