Agreed. I just modded my Lava for a wire clip so it would be the same for this backlock too.

Left carry option? I'd assume yes, bet there have been several models recently that have forgotten about us lefties.

Made some major "minor" mods. Major meaning SS is a PITA to drill and tap. Minor meaning it's very simple. :D http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e366/willydigger/EDC/Knives/Custom%20Scales/IMG_0479.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e366/willydigger/EDC/Knives/Custom%20Scales/IMG_0480.jp...

Here are the final shots. First special credit to this POS Spydie clip that started the wheels turning. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e366/willydigger/EDC/Knives/Custom%20Scales/IMG_0486.jpg Swapped to Orange G10 scales. I used the 0.60" thin versions. They are smooth too. It's still a litt...

Got all my parts together today. Well except for the scales. :( Here are some pics of the breakdown to add the hole for the wire clip screw. I am reusing a factory hold down screw from a junk Cat CF. All the scale screws are keyed. Thought that was cool. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e366/willyd...

Maybe it's the lighting but I don't see the dent at the VG-10 stamp.

No issue with the Boyd. The scales on mine are screws. I'm actually planning to swap the scales for smooth G10. :D

Good advice. I think I found the correct drill size and tap. I'd prefer to have the screw "factory" so the look is the same. I'm going to source replacement screws if things work out.

Once I'm successful I'll post back so other Tinkers have an advantage. :D

You know seeing the SS version without the dent, irks me a little. It's a flaw. QC should have caught it. For a $50 knife, not really a big deal. For a $130 knife, it's pretty ****ty.

Tap Size for a Wire Clip Screw

I'm planning to add a wire clip to my new Lava. It's my tinker obsession. I believe it is a M3x0.5mm screw. Can anyone confirm this?

Blade blanks are cut out of a sheet of steel and, given the size of the Lava blade, a sheet would make at least a couple dozen. So "dimples" in the sheet that wind up falling in the exact same spot on more than one blade blank would be unlikely, at best. Most logical explanation would be ...

handled it at my local shop and it is small. For less money the G10 Dragonfly is a better knife. The ergos are really good and it is cool/quirky but if the blade were longer and pointier it would support the price point. I don't see this one flying off shelves and if I can get one at a deal down th...

Just a couple initial observations. I'm a nitpicker so likely not a big deal to most people. Overall the knife looks great. Lines are fine. There are three mehs. The Spydie hole is sharp. This provides a secure thumb grip though and considering the strong snap from the back lock, it's good to have a...

Blue Lava with a Mini Villain in Deep Water acrylic. Funky, little, belly, blue. So cool. And I hate lock backs. I sharpen mine with the Sharpmaker. It's not hard. Just use the angled side of the sticks.
