Re: Sal, what are the chances for a AEB-L spydie ?
AEB-L also seems to be quite popular with the custom kitchen knife guys. Not just the custom knife makers. It is starting to gain traction and popularity in the production kitchen cutlery market. AEB-L with proper heat treat is earning a well deserved reputation in the kitchen. One line for those i...

Re: Mamba Usage
Never pocketed the Mamba I owned. It was awful to disengage the lock due to being flush with the scales. I also couldn't get over the lack of blade edge all the way to the end of the blade. Worried what the blade would start to look like and perform after repeated sharpening's. As usual the fit and ...

Re: Sal, what are the chances for a AEB-L spydie ?
My experience with AEB-L is limited to a 8" chef's knife at 61-62HRC. It is a dream to sharpen and takes a very keen edge which are great properties in the kitchen. I would love to see a Stretch in AEB-L but doubt that is possible since it is a Japan produced model. It sounds like a broken reco...

Re: Knifeworks M4 PM2!
I would expect the BladeHQ PM2 in M4 to drop somewhere around this time so they can run the M4 blades all in one batch.

Re: Anyone own a Pattada? Or have any hands on info?
I handled the Pattada at the OKCA knife show. Wasn't planning on purchasing this knife but after having it in hand I will now be purchasing one. In all honesty it will probably spend most of its time sitting on my desk opening mail and other miscellaneous tasks. Its life of desk duty isn't because i...

Re: Couldn't hack the Gayle Bradley 2
It is the best folder I have found for use with work gloves on. If you own a GB1 or GB2, I encourage you to give it a try with a pair of gloves on. You can operate that liner lock with leather work gloves on? I'm impressed. Works great with leather works gloves. The precise, un-rounded edges get a ...

Re: Nirvana
If I remember my story correctly from the OKCA show, Sal said they are only getting a 100 Nirvana's in from Taichung a month and they need 400 on hand before they can release the knife. My recollection corresponds with RadioactiveSpyder's that they were targeting the end of May for release at the ti...

Re: Couldn't hack the Gayle Bradley 2
I have the Gayle Bradley 1 and it didn't see much pocket time after the new knife factor wore off due to a lot of the reasons listed previously. While I am perfectly capable of operating it, I don't find it as convenient for edc as other knives like my all time favorite PM2. My view point has change...

Re: Hiker Knife
I handled the Bradley Backpacker (I think this was the name on the card) at the OKCA knife show and it is everything you are asking for Doc. The knife at the show said production prototype so it is going to be made, when it hits the market is another question. I don't recall the steel but I am sure ...

Any of the steels mentioned so far would have me adding another of each and I would have to get some more Southfork's for my hunting buddies.

I have not seen any reprofiling on site but there has been a couple different table holders who have offered knife sharpening for a fee at previous shows.

Re: HAP40 Stretch
Lance, I really like your Stretch regrind. I have been wanting to do something similar to one of my many Stretches but am leaning towards removing the hump entirely with a finished blade that looks very similar to a PM2. I like how yours turned out, how do you like the reground blade in use?

Re: Your thoughts on fancy pivots and colored stand offs?
I like the simple but elegant fastners used by companies like Shirogorov and if you don't want to spend the money on the custom bits needed they are easy enough to manufacturer your own bit. For the most part though I subscribe to the KISS principle, "Keep It Simple Stupid" which would tra...

Re: Fixed Blade Recommendation
For your stated use I belive the South Fork is the best option. I own one and have gifted 2 more to hunting partners so I have seen and put the South Fork through a lot of use. I recently got a Sprig and it is an excellent knife I just don't have enough time with it to render an opinion on how well ...

Re: First knife for new Marine
The only part of my numerous PM2's I have found to be fragile on the blade is the splinter picker tip. I have broken the last 1/64 of an inch off the end of two PM2's but you know what, it hasn't bothered me one bit. Doesn't effect their use and when you take a pair of calipers to the blade spine yo...

Re: First knife for new Marine
I would be looking at a couple key factors: - Usefulness, how many tasks can the knife be utilized for. - Weight, the less it weighs the less weight he has to hump around. - Durability, the knife has a very likely chance of being exposed to conditions most of us never subject our knives. - Ease of m...
