Re: Spyderco Online Seconds Sale FAQ

AGH! Can't believe I missed the blurple Military! :( Hopefully they throw a few more of those up later. Yeah I mean what do people want Spyderco to do, invest in a massive infrastructure upgrade for this one event? They did the best they can, and it is what it is. It's a pain in the ***, you're prob...

Re: 2020 Seconds Sale - BREAKING NEWS

I’d suggest Spyderco make a new site for seconds sales and leave them up year round. Several retailers have their seconds available in that manner. I don't think they'd kill the actual seconds sale like that. As much as I'd like a legitimate shot at seconds, I would not wish the end of that time-ho...

Re: Spyderco Online Seconds Sale FAQ

Yeah, I tried for an hour to get one of the SPY27 Natives through checkout, and it was gone. This isn't much fun, my desire to participate is tanking. I just don't have the time. Oh well. More money for motorcycles!

Re: Spyderco Online Seconds Sale FAQ

As much as I'd love to get factory seconded exclusives and disappointed that they won't be offering it online, I think this is a good direction on Spyderco 's part. For one it will help in keeping those greedy scalpers and unscrupulous collectors away, folks who will sell seconded exclusives at a p...

Re: Military Tanto poll

I think you'd pretty much just be making a Lum Tanto, which is of course a very sweet knife. I don't think there will be enough different between a Military with a tanto blade and the Lum Tanto to warrant a new model, but then again they made an Endela so ya never know!

Re: Why the hate of Zome?

I love handles with color. It's almost the only thing that can get me to buy a new knife these days. But I don't like the FRN zome handles. It just looks like weird/bad camo to me, especially on the texture of FRN and on the narrow canvas of a knife handle. Maybe different/more than two colors would...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

I would expect a high price even for standard materials, at least $200 MAP. Still, I'll pay for a cool handle!

I hope we can all remain positive about this sale. Spyderco is doing us a favor by holding it this year at all.
I hope my bank account can stay positive!

Re: Spyderco chinese cleaver (cai dao)?

Fireman, I find it very interesting that you use a cleaver so much. I do a lot of cooking, pretty much all with a chef knife (homemade), boning knife (a custom), and whatever's in my pocket at the time. I don't even own a cleaver! I learned most of my cooking skills in a butcher shop/deli kitchen, a...

Re: River's Edge PM2

I'm naturally partial to earth tones so I think it's quite a handsome color combination, WAY better than black blades. I don't need to blend in at night any more than I need to find my knife in a sandbox, so all things being equal I'll take color over the absence thereof any day! More of this, pleas...

Re: On knife design and the virtue of usability

...only the grossest of differences in cutlery steel chemistry seem to bear out in practical performance. I admit I used to be a rather deliberate collector of steels until I began to realize this. Sure, there's a difference between the corrosion resistance of Super Blue and H1, but all the wear re...

Re: 2020 Seconds Sale - BREAKING NEWS

Online? I don't know. In person? You can get out with one Ladybug if that's all you want. I scrimp and save all year so I can blow a grand at the sale. Just because people are carrying around several thousand dollars worth of knives in their basket doesn't mean they are planning to buy anywhere nea...

Re: 2020 Seconds Sale - BREAKING NEWS

I was joking as well. As for discovering they have $2000 worth of knives in their cart, as a vetern of several in-person sales, you are way, way short. Based on my own basket, I'd say the average shopper has at least $5000 worth tossed in their basket to sort through. I usually have to cut back on ...

Re: 2020 Seconds Sale - BREAKING NEWS

Is a 204p millie too old to show up at this sale? I have absolutely no idea what is safe to assume might be available! I don't think so. I'm pretty sure much older models will be there. I don't know how it works, if they just ration these out bit by bit each year, but I keep being surprised at what...

Re: 2020 Seconds Sale - BREAKING NEWS

Hey, don't worry guys. The Spyderco team is a thoughtful bunch and they'll do what they think is best. I don't think it's unreasonable to want an advantage for true fans for something like this, but I wouldn't turn that want into expectation. I for one am just happy I'll get to even come close to th...

I'll tell you what. Make the handle anything other than black and I'll think about it. That's about the only thing that gets me excited anymore as someone who feels pretty fulfilled in their knife needs. Has there been any handle talk yet?

Hey JD! I don't come around much anymore, but I wanted to chime in just to say how happy I am to see Sal finally granting your wish. As long as I've been here you've been singing the praises of the Ayoob, and I think this is well deserved! I personally probably won't be going after this one as my kn...
