Re: Consistent edc
Serrated Ladybug for nearly 5 years. Bought lots of other cool Spydercos, but the bug was so small, I'd carry that, too.

Shiny VG-10? Stamped lettering?
My first Spyderco was a serrated Endura with the tip broken off. My friend had found it at a rest stop and broke the tip off prying the lid off of a paint can. It blew my mind how sharp it was. I remember how shiny and mirror like the blade was. That broken knife started me on a whole thing about Sp...

Re: I gave my best knives away. Now what?
My brother has had a rough life. He struggled in his teens, dropped out of highschool, had a hard time relating to pretty much anyone. Now he's got a driver's license, finished his GED, and is going to school for software development at a tech school. One thing we have in common is knife collecting...

Doesn't have to be a Sprint. I just liked my Cru-Wear Para 3.

Re: What's your 2 knife EDC system?
Funny you should ask. I had a SE Lady bug for the longest time that I carried everywhere. Eventually I bought a Dragonfly which was great, but the LB was so small that I kept carrying that, too. Then I bought a Para 3 Cru-Wear and a Native 5 Lightweight w/combo edge. Both awesome knives. So now I ca...

Re: The SE mentality shift
You just captured my whole deal in your post. I bought a serrated ladybug like 5 years ago, and it was just the most useful thing in the world. It just cut so much better than plain edge knives that were much bigger. The SE LB is still my all time favorite knife forever. Because of the serrations, y...

Re: Serration patterns: which knives have which pattern?
I was just thinking (overthinking), I've been carrying both my Dragonfly and my Ladybug and that if I'm going.to carry both, I should carry something meaningfully larger than the LB, and I thought, I bet there's tighter QC on the Golden, CO models along the lines of what Sal said earlier, so now I'm...

Re: Serration patterns: which knives have which pattern?
Welp, I knocked the teeth down a bit on the sharpmaker, and then I took it back to shaving sharp even in the scallops with the fine rods. I think it's just about in the zone.
It's pretty cool to know why there are slightly different patterns and what to do to mellow out the teeth.

Re: Serration patterns: which knives have which pattern?
All these answers are super helpful. I think eventually I'll get a serrated Endura just because I want it and just sharpen the dragonfly a bit to mellow the pattern out. Good to know I'm not crazy. Thanks for the help.

Re: Serration patterns: which knives have which pattern?
Hi VG-10, Welcome to our forum. Some Edge-U-Cation might be in order. Serrations are made by grinding the edge of the blade with a formed wheel. The wheel is formed in the shape of the serrations. Each time a blade is serrated, there is a little wear on the wheel. After 40-50 blades, the wheel must...

Serration patterns: which knives have which pattern?
I have a few Spydercos, a couple Ladybugs, an Endura I can't find, and a Dragonfly. All serrated. The Dragonfly's pattern seems way more spikey and hangs up more in materials like cardboard. The serration pattern on my LB's seems to act more like a plain edge; better even. I want a bigger serrated k...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Sharpmaker because I screwed up my new dragonfly. It's serrated. I use a diamond rod sharpener on my kitchen knices, so I got a tapered diamond rod to get inside the teeth, but the one I got was much too coarse. Made it worse, not better. Gotta wait until next week for the sharpmaker to get here. So...
