I haven't d/a a P2, but I've had a couple of my P1s apart and there was never any corrosion anywhere on any metal parts. I'm in north GA so I'm in hot & humid conditions a lot of the year.

My two Para 1s. I do anything with them that I used to do with my Buck 110s and 112s and they've never failed. One is a garage beater that my wife and sister use, the other is my digi-cam work knife that goes to the warehouse with me. They just won't die. AFAIC, the Para 1s are still my choice of th...

Bad news for knife fans... Blackie Collins killed in MVA

The word over on BF this morning is that Blackie Collins was killed in a motorcycle accident yesterday or the day before. The original post was by Darryl Ralph, one of the mods, so it seems to be confirmed. Very bad news indeed for the knife world. I'm glad that the Sage 3 came out before this so he...

...I like a 3" blade. Will use as a work/utility/camping knife. I want great edge retention, toughness and perfecto fit and finish. Have tried Benchmades, Emersons, even a small Sebenza S35VN. I end up carrying them for a bit, then selling them on eabay. Nothing quite meets my expectations. I'...

How time flies.... several posts here say the ZDP should be done at the 30 degree setting on the sharpmaker. I just ordered the Caly3 in ZDP and would appreciate any tips/advice on keeping this baby sharp. I have good success on my VG-10 and other steels using the sharpmaker at 40 degrees and a str...

I noticed that the new cat and Chicago models are going to be produced in 440c, i have currently no knives in this still and am a little disappointed that it wont be made in cpm-s30v. can anyone shed some light on how 440c performs when heat treated by spyderco I haven't used any Spyderco 440C but ...

It's most likely not the steel. 154CM is an excellent EDC folder steel whether offered by Spyderco or Benchmade. Good edge retention, good toughness, good corrosion resistance. Benchmade is, however, well known for rather obtuse factory bevels, especially on their blue class knives. They often run o...

I use a BRK double sided strop from KSF that Creepo mentioned. Grey compound on one side for heavier stropping, and green on the other for lighter touch-ups. I also have a couple of strop blocks from Knives Plus that I keep on my dresser for a final polish or quick touch-up while I'm watching TV at ...

If you want to try a custom maker instead of Spyderco's W&R, you might contact Chase Axinn at Chaxknives.net. He has done custom blades for production knives before and works with a variety of steels.

Deacon and Blerv are right... it's inherent in the design of a back- or mid- lock. I've had it in the lockbacks that I've carried all the way back to the 70's when I first started carrying Bucks and Brownings. Never affected performance, never hurt anything... just a feature of that lock style. Even...

A lot of the hiking/camping that I do is in the Appalachians. I do carry a FB with me on those trips for heavier use, but I also carry either a Millie or Para, usually a Para, and they've worked fine. Never had any issues with either of them and they come home ready to go back to the warehouse to wo...

The Millie is a great choice for me for weekend/woods carry. I have a couple that I've carried for years. One is the standard black G10/S30V and the other is digicam/S30V. Both are satin blades. I was surprised at how much I took to the digicam G10 when I got my Para. After that, I had to get a Mill...

Speaking solely about knives and not personalities, I've owned and used several different models of Strider folders. IMAO, there is nothing Strider could bring to the table that would be a benefit to Spyderco.

I would also pass on this collab.

I go tip to heel because it is easier for me to turn the blade to follow the belly. I've also found this true, whether the blade has a straight edge and then a significant belly like a GB or a constant gentle curve like a PM / Delica, etc. This seems to help with not rounding off the blade edge nea...

You can't go wrong either way, but I find the Military both more ergonomic in use and easier to carry. If I were you, I'd search for an M4 Millie. I was able to snag one when KW had a few leftovers come available, and it's fantastic. The Bradley is great too, but I just find the Military more pract...

Dale, that's interesting. Are you saying you strop edge forward? I'm not sure I could pull that off without cutting the leather. Or maybe you're just saying you do edge trailing, but going from tip to heel? Andrew :o Sorry, didn't say it well. I strop edge trailing, but tip-to-heel (mostly). I also...
