Is black timascus another name for zirco-ti?

Talking with a maker about a custom I'm having made, and just want to be sure. Is it just a name situation like with Moku-ti and Timascus, or is it something different? Thanks

Re: Poll: Which one offers more bang for the buck?

Is this even a question? K2 by a mile. A huge slab of 10v and the same materials as the Slysz? Bang for buck wise, K2 wins hands down. Now which knife is the highest quality would be a different story

Re: Spyderco tolerances

I am guessing about this, but I am thinking that there could be situations where I want slightly looser tolerances on a knife. If I need the knife in an emergency situation, and I drop it on a hard surface, or it somehow gets full of grit, extremely tight manufacturing tolerances could mean a folde...

Would you rather have...(quantity vs quality)?

This question got me thinking, and I want to know what you guys have to say. Say you have $500 only to spend on knives (mainly concerning Spydies). Would you rather: A.) Spend everything on one very nice midtech B.) Buy two of the highest end Spydies C.) Buy three of the $100-200 Spydies D.) Buy man...

Re: Spyderco tolerances

I don't think the Slysz Bowie will have Seb-level tolerances, just the best tolerances from Spyderco knives. Maybe you misunderstood.

Re: Spyderco tolerances

Yesterday, for the first time, I dissasembeled a Sebenza(my small plain 21).I only wish Spyderco released a model with a pivot bushing a la Sebenza. But AFAIK that implies very tight tolerances.Speaking of tolerances, which Spyderco model do you think has the most tight tolerances ? I haven't handle...

Re: Spyderco/Farid K2

Has anyone besides the the testers gotten their K2 yet? Care to share some pics in the wild? Also, I'm by no means a knife tester, but from an average user's (me) perspective, I care much more about the beginning part of the sharpness curve as someone previously mentioned Cliff favored in testing a...

Re: Southard or Domino?

Depends on what you're buying it for. For strict use and EDC literally everyday, get the 204p Domino for it's better cutting performance than the Southard and increased edge retention over the standard Domino. If you want a knife to fondle and also carry but not depend on it to be an excellent perfo...

Re: Opinions on what I should do - LUM Tanto

You already payed $240 for a hunk of VG-10 and Lum's name (not saying that's good or bad, it just is), so I'd definitely send it back or in for an exchange or work done. I would probably do the same thing. If you bought something to use, I'm guessing you would have bought something like the Southfor...

"One's needs and preferences don't magically make something that doesn't fit those needs and preferences garbage." Wow, you guys really took offense to me stating I consider VG-10 garbage, as in a garbage steel. To me, it is junk. I'm not wrong in my opinion, I 100% consider VG-10 to be a ...

I like blue g10 almost as much as I like growing tomatoes, and I LOVE growing tomatoes. http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u93/bearfacedkiller/knives/102_2581_zpsc387869f.jpg There is something about blue G10 (or blue on knives, really) that I love as well. I didn't realize I liked the color blue o...

From those pics, only two nitpicks would be late lock up and no gimping. It looks amazing though No gimping is awesome IMO.... :spyder: The lockup is fine, solid.... Man, you must really want my wallet to lighten up a bit, don't you ;) I doubt you would regret getting one. :) I most likely will

Re: pm2 ellmax?

Plus, I'm not so sure Spyderco's Elmax is an upgrade over Spyderco's S30V at all. Anyone with more experience care to comment? Being a Austrian steel Elmax is pretty common here in Europe. I have experience with both steels and would prefer Elmax in most cases against S30V, I'd say it's on par with...
