Re: Spyderco ZDP-189 HRC?
Are you waiting to use your knife until you find out how hard the blade is? Has it chipped? Have you had to sharpen it yet?
What's the point of having a harder steel if it isn't getting used?

Re: Letting a Grail Knife Go. Am I a Collector or a User?
Yes. For the longest time, a carbon fiber Stretch (ZDP-189 blade) was always my grail knife. The Stretch was my favorite knife, and that certain rare configuration with CF and a steel I loved always called my name. Well eventually, I had an opportunity to own a NIB one. I loved it. I never carried i...

Re: Manix 2 in Cruwear
I know I'm the minority here, but I like the Manix 2 design more than the Para 2. I find it to be more comfortable, a better cutter, have a better blade shape, and I much prefer the BBL to the compression lock. I think you'll be surprised when you get it. BTW, where did you buy it from?

Re: What's your most bloodthirsty Spydie?
Not a Spydie, but I was sharpening my cold steel katana machete with a sharpening puck, holding it with my five fingers gripped around it in the palm of my hand, and moving my arm very fast back and forth. Well, I felt a sting and saw red spray everywhere, and realized that the tip of my ring finger...

Re: Official Thread Regarding Upcoming Endura/Delica/Stretch
HAP 40 I have no experience with but in the high wear high speed steels I like steels heat treated for wear resistance and am more than willing to give up a bit of corrosion resistance and even toughness. On pocket sized folder knives anyway. A fixed blade, especially a competition knife would be d...

Re: Official Thread Regarding Upcoming Endura/Delica/Stretch
Didn't the ZDP-189 Mule come out near the beginning of when Spyderco started to use ZDP, and weren't there reports of them breaking due to hardness? Not that this proves anything, but still No, it came out fairly late in the game. The ZDP Mule did not appear until mid 2009 and Spyderco had been off...

Re: Official Thread Regarding Upcoming Endura/Delica/Stretch
Whatever HRC Spyderco uses will be tested to make sure it holds up and also performs admirably. Sal and Eric are steel snobs as are their peers hence the history of working with extremely difficult materials. If they listened to the forum for every decision, on average, it would provide less succes...

Official Thread Regarding Upcoming Endura/Delica/Stretch
Is anyone else RIDICULOUSLY excited for the upcoming HAP40 runs, along with the new Stretch and the SG2 versions of these knives? I can't be the only one..... My first objective is to find out what exactly is coming out this year. Please list anything you know. I know for a fact the titanium damascu...

Re: Spyderco K2 first impressions.....
I agree fellas. The K2 for me is a really neat knife to show people and to have fun with every once in a while. I think Dominic nailed it. I do also feel its a lot of knife for the money. The lock, I felt, wasnt so much sticky, but just takes a little more pressure, as she's so big. I more than any...

Re: Spyderco K2 first impressions.....
I mis-typed, I should have said the lock has a small amount of initial resistance (stick), and also generally takes a lot of pressure to disengage.

Spyderco K2 first impressions.....
Thanks to my good friend Maclaren, I've had a K2 in my possession for the past week. Although he has put trust in me to use it and pretty much do whatever I want, of course I didn't. I do however have enough experience to give you forumites my views on the knife. Thanks again Maclaren. (Sorry for th...

Re: Mule Team flipping
The Life cycle of a Mule 1. Spyderco conducts voluntary transaction with metallurgical company to procure the steel for the Mules. 2. Spyderco has ongoing voluntary contracts with it's employees, who manufacture the Mules. 3. Spyderco conducts voluntary transaction with Person A, trading a Mule for...

Re: Mule Team flipping
In a con, someone is being mislead or lied to in order to extort money. How exactly is selling Mule Teams on eBay misleading the buyer, lying to the buyer, extorting money from the buyer, etc.? It's not a matter of merely misleading. It's taking advantage of a buyers gullibility or desire or percei...

Re: Mule Team flipping
Are you serious? The victim's say is their voluntary choice in whether or not they buy the knife! And no, of course Spyderco can't tell people what they can or cannot do with their own property. You are being disingenous here. In a con, the victim hands over his cash willingly. A con man is still a...

Re: Mule Team flipping
LOL. Your example would make perfect sense, except theft victims don't engage in a voluntary transaction with the thief. The second thing I bolded in your statement is agreeing with exactly what I said in my post above. Spyderco's pricing, flippers, and the buyers demand for the Mules are all to &q...

Re: Mule Team flipping
"Just like game scalpers. Do you blame the players? Or the people who watch? The fault lies squarely on the people who's greed makes them do objectionable things." Really? No I don't blame the players, that's a horrible example. That is parallel to blaming Spyderco's employees who build th...

Re: Mule Team flipping
Basically, if you're mad about flippers and are logically consistent, you also have to be mad at both Spyderco's low pricing, and buyers who are willing to spend more money on the Mules than you. I feel this is ridiculous, ... What's ridiculous is not putting the blame squarely on the flipper's sho...
