Re: Pocket knife perfection---Chaparral

I recently picked up a CF Chaparral and am very pleased with it, overall. For many years, I carried small lock back Spydies like the Spur(still think it's one of the best designs Spyderco ever made), Co-Pilot, Navigator II and Dragonfly, so this knife made a lot of sense to me. I also love that it's...

Re: I love lock back knives!

Lance that video looks like me trying to close my Stretch while driving lol. Why do you open your Stretch while driving :p I like my lock backs. Most have no bladeplay, but my older Salts show a bit (not an issue in use...) Sometimes I get bored and want to play with my spydies lol It's better than...

Re: I love lock back knives!

Maybe I'm also lucky that none of my Seki knives have any blade play. I even bought a few super blues in the last week, and they were tight out of the box. Maybe there's a certain way people are using them that makes it more likely to happen? Or maybe there's just bad batches of them out there? You...

The fit and finish of the Chap is in a different class than most lock backs, but if you can find a Sage4....
Yeah, I should be considering one. If the F&F of the 4 is on par with the 3 or 2, I'd be very impressed :spyder:

Re: Lets talk locks

I voted for the Power Lock, because it's an evolution of the back lock. All things being equal, I'd choose a fully ambidextrous lock over a dedicated right or left every time. If you can improve on a time tested design, all the better!

Re: Got my Native 5 G-10!

I haven't had Native since Wal-Mart sold them a decade or so ago. It was a great knife, but I didn't care for the short cutting edge relative to the overall length. I really want to try the newest G10 version, because I've read nothing but good things about it, but I know the proportions will bug me...

Re: I love lock back knives!

I'm another huge fan of lock back knives. Like others have stated, I dig the knife being fully ambi(another lefty, but carry in RFP and use is right hand most often) and the overall look. I've also had a number of Seki knives over the years with a bit of up and down movement, even though the lock st...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Another guy waiting for a CF Chaparral to arrive! Congratulations! Prepare to be impressed. I love mine. ;) Thanks! I got it about an hour ago and initial impressions are very positive. As an owner of a number of Taichung Spydies over the past few years, this guy lives up to the reputation of amazi...

Re: I only have a few knives, but I'm happy. Am I crazy?

Definitely not crazy at all. I keep whittling away at my "collection" to get things down to a reasonable amount...or what I might consider reasonable. I've been trying to live more of a minimalist lifestyle lately and the only aspect of my life that makes it hard are my knives. Basically ...

Re: Are Spyderco prices getting out of your reach?

The short answer for me is no. If I want one of the more pricey knives, I'll save up and buy it. It comes down to how quickly I can come up with the extra cash, not if I'm able to come up with the cash.

Re: The pain of being a dedicated "user"

For whatever reason, I'm wired in such a way that I have a really hard time owning "stuff" that doesn't get used regularly or has a specific role that it serves. I'm big into paddling and have had somewhere around 20 high end seakayaks over the past two decades or so, always looking for th...
