Re: What are these imbeciles thinking?

My daughter is a Zookeeper (strangely enough) and if she knew of this it might be **** to pay. She spent time prior to her present job at reserves that protect the rarest of animals. She hates PETA (as we all should) and while usually calm will express quite vocal condemnations of such abuses. I mea...

Re: 9mm vs 40 S&W vs 45 ACP

I prefer the 9mm to any other handgun caliber out of the 11 different calibers I own because of several reasons, but specifically in respect to the .45 acp. Longer range, more accurate, more carry rounds, smaller lighter handgun, less cost and most importantly relatively similar takedown results in ...

Re: Bar B Q: Who's Got The Best?? And Don't Forget The Sauce

Bloke, you should season beef with salt (if you can) as it is important for moisture as the salt will draw moisture out and the the salt is absorbed and draws the moisture back in. You can skip the pepper though as it adds flavor but doesn't enhance the meat. Hey Greg, I can't cook to save my life....

Re: Bar B Q: Who's Got The Best?? And Don't Forget The Sauce

When I buy steaks to cook I buy me a nice 2 1/2" ribeye or filet (I can eat it for 2 days) and I get her a nice 1" sirloin cooked well done and there are no complaints. I learned the hard way not to waste good steaks on her. Thankfully she doesn't use steak sauce. When I was a kid well don...

Re: 9mm vs 40 S&W vs 45 ACP

I've always marvelled at the US 'revolver hunting' trend- with those long-barrelled .357s, .44s and the like- They do look like fun but weigh as much as a reasonably handy carbine. We don't need no stinking long guns  Perfect for indoor shooting ranges or casual plinking at cans in the backya...

Steak sauce on a steak!?!

You might as well cook it well done.

Here's how you cook a steak and you only add salt and pepper.

Re: Bar B Q: Who's Got The Best?? And Don't Forget The Sauce

No, the sauce is always a big part of the entire Memphis/NC BBQ circuit, but we judge the meat and the sauce separately. We do not mask fair BBQ with an overpowering sauce, we judge how the meat stands alone and the sauce stands alone and how they come together. No, we have excellent sauces and rubs...

I have been studying survival since I was 12 years old. My house is prepared to withstand virtually any catastrophe with multiple backups for any situation. From water, food and electricity to healthcare and trauma emergency to radiation and oxygen contamination to viruses and everything in between....

Re: Best Blade Length for Self Defense; And What Do You Carry For This Purpose

Obviously a Samurai sword would be the best defense but is also somewhat awkward to carry. So, the Amalgam is my first choice with the Para 3 as a backup in case it gets nasty. No need to dirty the Para 3 unless the SHTF as the Para 3 should never be used in low level conflicts.

Re: Bar B Q: Who's Got The Best?? And Don't Forget The Sauce

I'm sure it's amazing but the true test is the BBQ without sauce. You can pour a great sauce on shoe leather and it might taste pretty good, but without the sauce it's just shoe leather.

Re: It's time

I think I need to include my knives as none of my kids gives a hoot about these knives. If I die my wife will just toss them in the trash. I'll let my buddies have first dibs but even they don't want boxes of knives. I have always been a collector since I was a wee lad, but because of the variety an...

Re: Bar B Q: Who's Got The Best?? And Don't Forget The Sauce

Well my mentor, Myron Mixon was fond of saying he could beat anyone in the world cooking in a metal trash can. It's not the gear, but technique, patience and an understanding of what herbs and spices will enhance the taste in combination with the rub and the sauce. BBQ here is judged without sauce s...
