Thank you Paul, I'm sure you're right, the cutout's purpose is simply to ease the flexing of the lockbar.

I wasn't aware of the Mnandi having the cutout on the outside.

Learned something again.

The newer Spyderco models with RIL or framelocks seem to have the cutout or cutouts on the outside of the frame, while the older models have the cutout on the inside of the frame. I thought the cutout's purpose was to create an inward bias, so when the blade is opened the movable part of the frame s...
