Re: The Pivot Bushing
The side to side play with pivot fully tightened was something I encountered on a couple different models. So I stopped buying models with pivot bushings.

Re: Thin Edge Preservation
I had a worn out Atoma so I glued the plate on top. The Atoma is the same width as the plate. I just used Elmers and it held fine. Epoxy would work better if needed.

Re: Thin Edge Preservation
I guess this is what I plan to do to the VG10 delica. what cheap diamond plate would you recommend? what do you use after the Atoma 140? Any other lessons learned or tips are appreciated. If you really want to hog steel you'll extend the life of the pricey Atoma by first using a cheap China-made '8...

Re: Spyderco Seconds Sale Scores
I'm curious about the logistical and technical hurdles and costs to make the website work better one day out of the year. Maybe it's simply not feasible?
It was a frustrating experience but I wasn't too surprised given the similar experience the first two years of the online sale.

Re: That darn Subvert!
I had the orange one too. I love the design but also had complaints. The lockbar is too heavily relieved so it's not very strong. This effects detent and also just feels too wimpy given the thickness of blade, liners, and scales. And then there's the lack of a steel insert. Locks up too late and can...

Maybe there haven't been enough Manix2 Sprints lately. And this was priced well. I'd love to get an M2 Lightweight Salt in Magnacut.

Great looking knife. I owned the regular version and didn't like the late and sticky lockup.

Re: I had enough of Seki ''hiccups''
I can understand the disappointment but Seki quality has not kept up (to put it nicely) with other manufacturing hubs for a long, long time. You gotta to lower your expectations. Or buy something else.

Re: Chinese Budget Folders In M4: What Does The Future Hold?
If they're shipping these steels from the US like Sal mentioned they do for S35VN and BD1N, then I'd imagine they're heated to the same RC range as other Spydercos using these steels. The steel is from the US but I believe it's ground and hardened by the China factory. I trust Spyderco on heat trea...

I'm also curious about heat treat. Have their been (independent) HRC or cut test results shared for the S35VN from the China factory?

Re: Best Spyderco for Backpacking
I section hiked the AT and tried different folders. I didn't have much actual use for a knife. Meals were mostly freeze dried. Sometimes I cut salami or cheese. Actually for that I used a dull Swiss Army blade which sounds ridiculous but it worked and I didn't want to take any risk of cutting myself...

Re: Weird blade grind/plunge line observation
I would love to know more about production processes. I saw a vid of a different company's factory and they used a vertical mill to rough grind the blades. What is used on the next step to surface grind it? I've noticed Spydercos tend to come flatter than other companies. So called flat grinds often...
