Re: Red loctite

I just cancelled my Para3 pre-order at KW (they're out of stock) and will wait to hear what Spyderco says about red loctite. As a rule, I don't open my Spydies, even to change scales. I find a soak in sudsy water, a rinse, a blow-dry with my air compressor, then a dab of Nano oil keeps my pivots an...

Re: Red loctite

There is less consistency in the screw heads as well. Some of my frame screws need a torx one size larger than normal. On my new PM2 scale screws a T9 may fit better than a T8 and this is on the same knife with the identical torx bit.

Re: Red loctite

I would gladly pay a slightly higher price on any model of Spyderco to pay the increased cost of warranty claims to accomplish two goals: Allow easier knife maintenance for a knife that is mine. I bought it. It's my property. I should be able to do whatever I want to it... including disassembly for ...

Re: paramilitary 3

I traded my Para 3 for a PM2. It's not that I don't think the knife is great (it is), it's just that it carries the same in my pocket as the PM2 so why not have the longer blade and handle?

Re: Red loctite

Guess some missed my post on an alternate technique from using heat. Put Torx screwdriver in screw head then smack it straight down with a hammer. Charlyn (?) in warranty & repair told me that's what she does and it worked for me too. Only took one or two firm (but not crazy) blows to break the ...

Re: Small Spyderco Fixed Blades? Ideal EDC blades?

I bought a small Bark River fixed blade to try and EDC it. I tried all kinds of carrying options, but nothing worked as well as a deep carry pocket clip on a Spyderco folder.

It now sits on my dresser and never gets carried.

Re: Paramilitary 2 - New Sprints/Exclusives (2017)?

They pop up on the exchange all the time, recent ones anyways. They've been coming pretty regularly from the mother ship too, at least 3-4 in the last 6-9 months alone, couple M4's, Cruwear, and another run of M390's from BBC. And the M4/CF version is usually available for at or less than the origi...

Re: paramilitary 3

Ah, gotcha, yea I've done that before too. I really do need to give the 3 a chance I guess. For some reason I've really been drawn to larger blades lately, I blame it all on the Military :D I have to admit that, as much as I like smaller knives, the release of the Para 3 has actually made me look a...

Re: Sticky deployment on pm2

Well I wound up stripping my pivot screw on my brand new S110V! Made me sick to my stomach. I called down to Warranty & Repair and they are mailing me out replacements. The super nice woman also offered up advice to break them free... place your torx screwdriver in the slot then smack it with a...

Paramilitary 2 - New Sprints/Exclusives (2017)?

So I'm really really late to the PM2 party. Just got my first one (Blurple S110V) even though I've owned and collect Spyderco's for years. I would like to have more variables of this knife, but see that it's been some time since sprint runs and exclusives have hit the street, so they are bringing so...

Re: Name a great allaround-do-it-all Spyderco folder

The list of Spyderco folders that DON'T meet your criteria is much shorter. In fact, I can't think of any.

I'm confident I could successfully travel around the world with only a Dragonfly in my pocket.

How can you adjust the pivot? Mine is locked down and I can't turn either side to save my life!

Which DMT's are you using?

Re: Main Blade Scratch Removal ZDP 189? Sandpaper .

Endura 4 is solid ZDP. I believe the polish level on the blade is about 800 grit. I've polished the sides of my blade before. You will end up sanding off the center of the Spyderco logo if you do this. You pretty much have to do the entire side to get the scratch patterns to line up.

Re: Newbie getting Para2 s110v today,. what is OOB angle

I receive my Blurple PM2 in S110V and the knife is flawless including the bevel. Seems to be right at 30° and is the sharpest I've ever received a production knife. I can't even find a micro bevel on this. I have revised my plan, and for now I'm not going to touch this edge. I will see how the edge ...

Greater control over my angles.

But also, I really enjoy both the knife sharpening hobby and learning new things.

Sharpening my Spydies...

Hi, guys. Over the last 10+ years, I have mastered the Sharpmaker (and other "guided" sharpening systems). I have the diamond, CBT, and UF stones in addition to the basic kit. I have also mastered stroping. I say all of this to highlight that I can create the proverbial "scary" a...

Re: Newbie getting Para2 s110v today,. what is OOB angle

Zatx I wonder how with just Sharpmaker that will take coming from 40 degrees to 18-20 on S110v and zdp 189? A... very... long... time. I recommend getting some 220 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Cut and fold it over the triangle stones and clip it back then use only dragging strokes making sure the paper ...
