First, Spyderco is very helpful for getting replacement parts now. You'll want to call the Spyderco Factory Outlet at +1 (303) 279-8613 ext. 4 and they will help you out. You're obviously using your Carribean for the rough use in which Spyderco designed it, though a different environment than the oc...

Unless it is very extreme, Spyderco will probably find that it fits within their allowed tolerances. I’ve had much better luck just returning it to the retailer from which I bought it for an even exchange.

I have never taken any of my Spyderco knives apart to inspect their parts, also never took any of my other non Spyderco knives apart. In answer the OP's question... "Very few people are getting Ikuchi's as soon as they are released." The rest of us will have to wait six months for the second run and hope we can find one then. I really wish Spyderco would stop being so stinking conservative with their first production run...

Thank you for taking the time to document your modification of the clip. Unfortunately, it doesn't change the thickness of the material, its sharp edges, or its uncomfortable upswept tip.
