Re: A sudden itch for V-Toku2

I don’t see why not. Unless you’re not a fan of DLC, you can dye the natural G10 any color. Thinking more about it, I imagine it would most likely be TiCN coating. Sal mentioned getting G10 to Japan isn’t cheap as well, so price would go up. But for those who like a coated blade, it seems like a wi...

Re: David Boye Cobalt Knives: any thoughts?

https://www.boyeknives.com/pages/new-dendritic-cobalt This subject came up recently in a thread, and the more I read the more intrigued I became. The blades are cast from a cobalt alloy instead of steel. There's a lot of interesting rope cutting testing in which they seemed to excel, but I'm wonder...

Running away is always the best option IF it is an option.

Living to fight another day is the most important thing.
Be safe out there!
Thats right.

There is no accounting for taste. A jade DLC - brrrrrrr - is the last knife I would buy.

Re: Best Defense in attempted mugging/assault?

A person can be a true gentle and loyal son, husband, and father to his mother, wife and kids and also be a mafia enforcer and contract killer that tortures people before he kills them on orders from his capo. That is just the way it is. Yes. Your description fits for example 'The Iceman' quite wel...

Re: How do you put a Stretch 2 back together?

This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen happen with a knife. I can screw the clip on LH tip up. I can screw the clip on LH tip down. I can screw the clip on RH tip down. I can screw the clip screws on RH tip up. But if I try to screw the clip AND screws on RH tip up, it doesn't work. What the **...

Re: Best Defense in attempted mugging/assault?

A couple (few?) years ago, two local teens broke into a home occupied by a 48 year-old man and his 24 year-old son. IIRC, when confronted in the house, one of the teens beat and shot the man's son (who survived), and during the struggle, the man wrestled the gun away from the teen and shot one of t...

To me the patina and scratches on the blade remind me of a set of old working hands or a truck that's really been put through its paces. It's something i respect I'm so down for a wharnie Ditto. A wharnie wouldnt be bad. Must admit that after using the Endura, I badly want a V-Toku2 Delica as well....

Re: V-Toku2 Endura

Here the lam lines on mine. Line on one side is slightly lower than the line on the other side. This seems to bother some people but I dont mind. Quite the contrary. Its part of the charm of a laminated blade IMO. Give me interesting and charming workhorse knives with slightly uneven laminated lines...

Re: Best Defense in attempted mugging/assault?

In a stand your ground state, you have that right anywhere. Im reminded of that jealous idiot of an ex-boyfriend (and ex-con) who thought an Uber driver had his ex-girlfriend as a passenger. He forced the Uber off the road at night, jumped out screaming that he had a gun and promptly got popped by ...

Re: Best Defense in attempted mugging/assault?

I meant it’s hard to imagine shooting someone for just walking into your property..... Indeed. Not something anybody should strive for nor wish to have to do, no. Several factors come into play; a castle doctrine for when somebody breaks into your house and tries to jump you in the middle of the ni...
