Re: Your TWO To Return In 2020

I would really like to see a HAP40 Caly 3.5 with the same green handle as the 3 inch version.

Other than that, either a JD Smith with a hollow ground blade or a Rock Lobster with a contoured handle would both make me happy.

Re: Super Blue and patinas

I don't have the Calypso Jr, but I do have a few of the older super blue knives. Just use it and it will patina. There is no need to seek out any special foods.

Re: The Spyderco Rescue Designer? History?

Very nice collections.

There was also an orange handle rescue version of UKPK. I had one but lost it.

Re: Caly 3/3.5 interest Poll

Always fond of a Caly so I would say yes to both a 3 and 3.5. Not a big fan of bolsters.

I am not a huge XHP fan but it wouldn't preclude me from buying the knife.

Re: Anything that can replace Chaparral?

Not as thin as the FRN Chaparral, but the urban is a fantastic office knife (if you can do without a lock).

The 52100 version is close enough in performance. Grab one of them.

Re: Choose my knife (or my fate) for 4 days!

I voted Endura. I just did a 5 day, 350 mile bike camping trip and the only knife I took was a HAP40 Delica. It was plenty of knife for anything I needed to do. I believe it. Pacific Salts have been with me for over 3,000 miles of bike camping and they were more than enough. Even carried a PE versi...

Re: Unpopular Blade Steels That You Like?

ZDP-189

I really enjoy my SE Endura in ZDP-189. It can be chippy and a pain to sharpen, but gets wicked sharp and holds the edge well. I know there are more suitable steels for SE, but this does everything I need of it.

Re: Chaparral FRN CQI

Carrying the Chaparral for about two weeks off and on. It's great. I only have one small nitpick. The honeycomb FRN is very grippy and almost sharp, like fish scales. I especially notice it when I put my hand in and out of my pocket. Will the scales soften up over time? Maybe my hands are too sensi...

Re: Factory edge poll

Voted No. It's been a couple years since I purchased a knife.

Everything I have been carrying is well used and sharpened. I thinned most of the edges in the past, but I have been lazy and really only maintain with the sharpmaker anymore.

Just noticed the lightweight has 7 large serrations while the SS model has 8.
My SE ZDP-189 Endura also has 8 of the larger cuts.

Re: Steel preference for Caly 3.5 LW?

Between the two, it doesn't really matter to me. I like Caly enough that I would buy the LW version with either steel.
