Re: Pacific 2 Linerless Handles

I have linerless OG Pac Salt (PE) and Atlantic Salt (SE) knives. Use 'em hard, wipe clean or spray out with the hose when necessary. No fuss, no muss. 👍
The chain ring bolt clip is one of my favorite.

Re: What are yr favorite knives for yardwork, gardening?

PE Pacific Salt, SE Byrd Hawkbill. Wish I would have gotten one of the last Spyderhawk runs as it seems an ideal outdoor platform…maybe we'll be graced by another Sprint!

Re: Re-Sprinting the Super Blue Caly 3/3.5?

Would love to see any Caly 3.5 being produced. LW, Super Blue, SRS13 or HAP-40…unquestionably one of my all-time favorite designs.

Re: Newbie looking for steel recommendations

Blade length, compression lock and Golden made…sounds like a Para 3 or Lil' Native to me. Go with the Para in S45VN. Well-balanced, easy maintenance and won't take you all day to sharpen when needed. ¢.02

Re: Manix2 rex45 LW

Clean, dry with compressed air, apply EDCI liberally. Do this annually and you will probably be fine. I've had a pinned Super Blue Caly 3.5 for years, used and carried heavily, no issues.

Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread

About the Caribbean My long term goal is FRN. To introduce this new but some what strange model, I needed a pattern with good grip and easily visible. It was kind of a "Watershed" model. Materials , fitted, nested liners, LC, etc. When we catch up a bit, I'd like to make this model with an...

Re: Polestar/Alcyone in BD1N

Hello, do you know when the PS and Alcyone pair will be available in the CTS-BD1N? I have a pair in BD1 and I would like to get another from new steel. At spyderco.com they are - sold out. Thank you. It is an official rolling change to BD1N and gray G10. Someone at the mothership might have info on...

Either way - liners or no liners - one I will be checking out and likely buying.
Same. Love the 3.5 and while the Astute has been giving it some stiff competition I will still be getting whatever new variants are in the offering. 🤘

Re: A question for Sal regarding the Rockjumper

Bummer to hear sales are not so great on the RJ. It is a fantastic design and I look forward to getting another one in a different steel (SE VG10 currently). My guess is the baseline materials are hindering sales rather than the design itself. VG10 is solid but with many other more exciting steels (...

Re: Astute Poll

i just had to cut a package open with my astute and the 8cr13mov completely folded and crumbled in my hand. just kidding... it's a capable cutter as long as you don't have to cut abrasive materials in a factory all day long. :rofl https://brian.carnell.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/acme-disintegra...

Re: Astute Poll

I wouldn’t complain with any of that. I think the Astute is a really good design, but like has already been said, models just don’t switch between makers so there’s no point in voting for the Taichung version. The lightweights, steel upgrades, and XL version I’m all for. This is where an XL version...

Re: Astute Poll

I voted “Other” for “Appreciate the Astute as is.” In my opinion, I don’t think it would make sense for the Astute to follow in the footsteps of two of Spyderco’s longest standing and potentially best selling models. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Tenacious actually is their best selling model of a...

Some designs are so exquisite that they deserve to transcend the limitation of their steel category. The Astute may very well be one of those where a simple change in blade steel may elevate it to a best seller despite a step up to a different price category.

Re: Astute Poll

I voted S35VN, Taichung version, and Astute XL. I've actually been pretty happy with the 8Cr edge holding since the thin geometry is so good, it just wants to cut. So if upgrading the steel, go all the way to S30V-ish level, don't stop at BD1N. Taichung, yeah, bring it on. Or Golden. Price might be...

Astute Poll

I think the Astute is a fantastic design, and I am not alone (based on the recent thread). Here are some options of what could happen (theoretically).

Re: An 'Astute' assessment

Though I find 8CR13 to be a very underwhelming steel, I finally had to pick up an Astute, and it's a pretty impressive little pocket knife. I was surprised at how svelte and diminutive it actually is. I thought I'd share my initial thoughts. ... What I would like to see: - maybe an upgrade to BD1N?...
