The side with be smaller bevel : keep sharpening that side, the edge is probably off center too. +1 I think your edge is off center. You can keep working on one side until it reaches the edge, but your bevels will be uneven and the edge will still not be centered. If you are maintaining the same an...

Less is more means a different thing to different people. Some people would think us crazy if we had more than 2, but yet a collector could justify having 50 or 100 or more. I once collected fixed blade hunting knives with no intention of ever using any of them. Right now I "collect" foldi...

I have a couple of the M16 "big dogs". They are inexpensive. They are big and beefy, and seem to be very strong, but the liner lock is not very strong. The new ones come with the LAWKS or auto-LAWKS system that probably helps with the lock strength, but it is sort of like putting a bandaid...

I sit on my back pockets so if I put a knife there it would likely be damaged, and it would certainly damage my clothes and what I am sitting on. My wallet is bad enough but it is fairly flat and the wallet itself isn't sensitive to being compressed.

I was simply suggesting the idea as opposed to using the lock to pop the blade open, but thanks for poking me with your stick. I was hoping it was real obvious that I was kidding, but I'm also a little annoyed by the people that want to depress the lock and then flip their arms around to get the bl...

I never really understood using the lock in any way to deploy the PM2 blade. Oh, and on a side note, it took me several weeks to figure out how to hold my Manix2 properly to MFF deploy it without feeling like I was going to drop it. Now it's the only way I can deploy the thing. My PM2 came with a t...

I like some models other than Spyderco but I think Spyderco makes knives that will meet any of my needs. I have some experience with the ZT0200 and I think the Manix 2 XL is a good option for it. I like big and heavy knives but the 0200 was a bit thicker and heavier than what I wanted.

There are a lot of limited models that are FFG, but they can be expensive on the open market. I have one of those and I also have the standard hollow ground model. I like the FFG models just based on appearance, but I think the hollow-ground model is probably stronger. I got to handle the FFG lightw...

For EDC I think the PM2 is best. It is slim and light. I like the Tenacious too and it is a good choice for someone with a smaller budget. I like the Manix 2 for times when I think I might need a tougher knife. I don't know that it really is tougher than the PM2 but it feels tougher. For me personal...

I have 3 of their older designs and they are reasonably nice knives. I don't think they are quite as good as the lower priced Spyderco lines but CRKT does have a wide variety of designs. FWIW I can find several of their new designs that I like, but I'm more interested in Spyderco's now. I wish I cou...

that break occurred where the steel was 4 millimeters thick, and also right where the edge of the titanium handle meets the blade. if you put a sideways load on the handle then it seems to me that titanium scale would create a stress point at the location of the break. The weak axis bending moment ...

I like my Tenacious but I can't respect it very much when I know how many nice Spydercos I have. If the Tenacious had nicer steel I might like it more, but if it was more expensive I probably would not have bought it. So that is kind of a Catch 22 situation.

I cut up a garage-full of boxes, again. We moved 3 months ago and my wife is still filling up my garage with empty boxes. I have to cut them up and put them together for our trash service to pick up. I used my Manix 2 for most of this, and over a period of a couple of months I got it very dull. I sh...

My most recent Spyderco purchases have all had good bevels and arrived sharp. They seem to be a little steeper than some people here like them, and sometimes they are even steeper near the tip. When it is time to re-sharpen I profile the bevels to what I want with diamond stones, and I notice that m...
