I have 3 different Fenix lights and I like them very much. One of mine is the LD01 and it is very easy to EDC because it is barely bigger than the AAA battery that powers it. I carry a Fenix PD32 in my briefcase. It is average size for a light that uses 2 CR123 batteries, and has very good output. M...

I'm particularly confused by the fact that liner and frame locks escape this criticism, given the fact that disengaging the lock requires you to place your thumb (or other digit) in the blade path. Closiing a lockback knife you put your finger on one side of the handle and push down the lock with y...

but I've never had any problems operating any Spyderco lockback I've ever owned with one hand. This includes the delica. Some of us have been carrying lockback knives for a very long time, before linerlocks were in wide production. Please be very careful trying to operate one one-handed, I've seen ...

I'd like to see a PM2 XL. But I'd take a next generation military with a compression lock. :) For a smaller knife, isn't the Sage a good replacement for the Para 2? For a bigger knife, isn't the Military, Manix 2 XL or Superleaf a good replacement? I realize that only one of those 4 has a compressi...

I've been carrying a Delica as a backup blade for the past few weeks. It is a good size and a very good knife for someone that doesn't need a big blade, doesn't care about one-hand operation, doesn't mind plastic handle. I still have the clip on mine but I drop it in my pocket with my other stuff an...

My favorite is the Leatherman Charge. I thought I would like the Skeletool for EDC but I have too many good folders to displace one of them with the Skeletool. I bought the Charge thinking I might carry it in my pocket while I was carrying a folder but sometimes it is too much. I do carry the Charge...

I bought a Ladybug but it was too small so I gave it to my daughter. I bought a dragonfly but it was too small so I gave it to my wife. I bought a Delica and I am carrying it right now as my backup knife. It is a reasonable size if you don't have to do much with it, but it would be too small to be m...

In consequence, it is blade, not choil (as with the Stretch), that greets fingers when pressing the mid-lock to flick the blade closed. I refrain from flicking closed because of things like this, and you can have body parts in the wrong place when flicking closed a knife with any kind of lock. I pr...

My Southard came ridiculously dull...I wonder if it's just the CTS204P's wear resistance being a factor when they sharpen them up quickly before going out. On the plus side, you know you won't have to sharpen it too often. I have bought a lot of spydercos used, of the 9 or more that I've bought new...

I don't think a micro bevel improves the edge, if it is a tiny bevel, although it might help with rolling or chipping. I would use a micro bevel for ease of sharpening. It might eventually become bigger than a micro bevel, but at that time I could reprofile the whole blade and be back to a micro bev...

My first Spyderco was the original Goddard, my first Benchmade was the mini-AFCK. Some unscrupulous person ended up with my Goddard but I still have the AFCK and added the full size AFCK to it. Of course I've added other Benchmades to the collection in the almost 20 years since I got my AFCK, and a ...

We talk about flippers a lot, but always good to have another chance to say that flippers are lower than pond scum. Original question asked if this happens a lot... I recall when the first run of green PM2's started shipping, people would get the box in the mail, put up a sales ad, put a new label o...

I wasn't going to mention names, but I found mine at Willey Knives. They looked legit, so I went for it. **edit, now listed out of stock there.** Very few of these were manufactured so finding one for sale from a retail store is a rare occurrence. They are too expensive for me, that just leaves les...

I severely doubt it, at least not in the USA. For one thing, there are those for whom being homeless is a freely made lifestyle choice rather than something imposed on them by circumstance. For another, there are those who are both incurably lazy and prefer living in filth to keeping a decent home,...
