Re: Black Lake -- A Short Story

I feel like this should be oral, not written. I'd love to see the author record it in spoken form, probably without video.

Re: Fixed blade EDC

The guardian is very comfortable, I tried a model from Amazon. Is it possible to put it on the belt comfortably? I wear my Guardian(s) horizontally just left of my belt buckle, with the handle facing in toward midline (so that I can draw an resheath easily with my right hand). After trying a whole ...

Re: Fixed blade EDC

I own two Makos, one in M390 and one in Rex 121. It's pretty much a highly refined, evolved Enuff. The handle/blade ratio is (like the Enuff) quite a lot of handle per blade. I don't mind that at all, even though I was thinking I might. Having the relatively large handle makes the knife more comfort...

Re: Fixed blade EDC

I EDC a small fixed blade pretty much all the time. I like the Bradford Guardian 3 (I have that one in probably a dozen steel/shape variants), especially the wharnie. The handle might be cramped for some people though. I am currently rotating between my Chad Kelly Coop (my favorite for this role, bu...

Something along the lines of a Dragonfly or Chaparral in HIC would be _very_ cool.

Diamond belts on the worksharp. That's been my strategy for sharpening the Rahven kitchen knives, and it's working on them.

I'm tempted to get one of these because they are so unique, but I've had a few HIC kitchen knives for a while now and it bothers me that there isn't a great way to sharpen them.
Have you tried diamond belts?

Re: Smooth Precision Pens, Out of Business - Alternatives???

It looks like maybe it's a 'every once in a while we make the old ones' kind of thing: https://tactileturn.com/products/stainless-steel-bolt-action-pens "We used to do a lot of Stainless Steel pens. It's a fantastic material that's very similar aesthetically to matte, stonewashed titanium but a...

Re: Smooth Precision Pens, Out of Business - Alternatives???

The Tactile Turn website now shows no items in the stainless steel category. I wonder if they discontinued them?

Re: Smooth Precision Pens, Out of Business - Alternatives???

I also own a couple tactile turn pens. I vastly prefer the heavier stainless steel to the lighter titanium, because the stainless steel version has a much smoother action. Another good pen I've been happy with is the Hinderer Investigator (the 'half size' one), which I've carried in my pocket quite ...

Re: Ok, could it be that LC200N fares better against Magnacut than some might think?

I think this is a case of 'all good, just different'. I personally prefer Magnacut to LC200N. I also personally prefer 4v to 3v (which is a reasonably similar comparison). If I had to pick one steel to use for everything forever, out of the commonly available steels on the market right now, it would...

Re: New Discoveries found in 8Cr13MoV testing

I like 14C28N and which we had some knives in it from Spyderco. Everyone dotes on 13C36, but 14C28N is a very much improved version. 14c28n is my favorite budget steel. I haven't bought a budget Spyderco (or Byrd) in a long time. My go-to for that category is Kershaw in 14c28n. The Leek is probably...

Kalen DeBoer. I'm honestly surprised. I don't think he'd have been my first choice.

Doc Dan, any opinion on the new coach? He's got some very large shoes to step into.

A student of mine gifted me one of their knives a while back. He had won it as a prize in a 3 gun event. I admit I haven't really used it much. I think it's too pretty for me to want to beat on it.

That brings me back to Lane Kiffin.
