Re: CPM-D2
I was going to jump on this thread and say that if you are itching for D2, you should just grab some Cruwear. My understanding is along the lines of what has already been said. Cruwear is a tweak (i.e. improvement) on D2. So why settle for D2 when you can have Cruwear? The Junction was indeed a grea...

Re: does k390 have any advantages over 10v?
I think availability is the primary advantage of K390 over 10v or A11. Ha! That was my first thought. I never knew there was a special edition PM2 in 10V, but I am glad to have a PM2 with K390. Perhaps it is good that I didn't hear about the 10V run, I might have been tempted. I read this thread wi...

Re: Let's talk Drilling.
What a great thread. Thanks so much for launching this. When I first got my mill and lathe I sought out a professional machinist for some advice. My education began with a sobering set of safety lectures. Your experience with the long "chip" almost removing the end of your finger gave me t...

Better safe than sorry is my point of view.
I also have the Harbor Freight 1x30 belt sander, and it was an excellent purchase that I find useful for all kinds of things.

Re: CPM REX 76, CPM REX T15, AND M398 and MT2!
I think REX was in use long before REX tool steels started getting used for knives.
I have some lathe tool blanks labeled Rex AA and Rex AAA and Rex MM that are pretty old - like historical artifacts.
So you might have to go back a ways and do some digging. Seems like a good marketing name to me.

Re: Manix
The Manix is one of the knives that made me wrinkle up my nose when I first looked at it, but once I got it in hand I said, "How did they know? They made this just for me, to fit perfectly in -my- hand." As long as the sharp part of the blade is out of harms way when the knife is closed, I...

Re: Liking 20CV
Yes. I like it too. Just remember that M390 and CTS204P are the same thing from other foundries.
I am fond of 20CV because it seems to get overlooked as compared to its brothers.
I happen to have my Manix in 20CV sitting here right next to me. I sees plenty of use.

it wasn't a good seller, but i think that was because people were waiting for a different steel. i had one in my hand and considered buying it. i wish i had, but i wasn't really "collecting" at the time and i didn't need it or like it better than the m2lw i already had. i really think the...

That was my thought when I lost a knife in the Grand Canyon. I hope somebody finds it and enjoys it.
Hopefully a bright color will catch a divers eye.

Re: The difference QC and a good heat treat makes
A good heat treat is like a seldom spoken about secret with Spyderco Knives. Spyderco really does a great job on their heat treat, or so it seems and so I hear. That is one reason why you can't compare say S30V from one maker to S30V from Spyderco. I remember some impressive numbers for the Rex45 he...

Re: crucarta pm2 now shipping
I am jealous of those Rosewood/Rex45 Shamans. Fantastic knife! I wasn't aware of any bad press around it. I love my ZCarta Shaman, and am very much looking forward to the M4/GCM exclusive. Well, forget I said anything. Like I say, it has done nothing but make me happy. Maybe it was people calling i...

Re: crucarta pm2 now shipping
I haven't bought a knife for maybe 2 years now, but this looks like a knife I don't really need that I just have to have. So I placed an order today at Blade HQ. Should have it this week. I am entirely pleased with the full metal liners. Good choice and spot on. Thanks! Funny, I was just reading pos...

Re: On the fence: Cruwear PM2, S45VN PM2...a couple questions before pulling trigger
All I hear about Cruwear is that even though it doesn't have enough Chromium to qualify as a "stainless", it does better than you would predict from the content. But like I say, I live in the desert and don't put such properties to the test. I like Cruwear because of its sharpening respons...

Re: On the fence: Cruwear PM2, S45VN PM2...a couple questions before pulling trigger
Both are great. You can't go wrong. You could flip a coin and win either way. I find Cruwear to be one of those steels that I can make crazy sharp in a minute or two. I don't think S45 is particularly hard to sharpen though. I live in a dry desert area, so corrosion issues are almost non-existent fo...

Lately it has been either a PM2 or a Manix.
My ruby red Manix with 20CV has been getting a lot of mileage lately. Either than or the Rex-45 PM2 in burnt orange.

Re: The Carry Conundrum
You know. I don't make this choice daily. I tend to carry one knife for "a while" then get in the mood to change to something else. One thing I would not want to do, if I was trying to get ready to leave for work on a schedule (while is not my lifestyle any longer, but ....). Anyway I woul...

Re: Knife Knuts, Steel Junkies, and Mule... POLL! Please VOTE!
Well, none on the list really turn my crank honestly. I might go with "mule team army", but many of the objections already set forth resonate with me. We had a group of 4x4 enthusiasts where I work who began calling themselves the XYZ militia, and I quickly put distance between myself and ...

Re: What are we cutting today?
My SRS13 is doing daily duty in the kitchen. I am greatly enjoying having a truly sharp blade for kitchen use.
My LC200N was previously doing kitchen duty, and I have already said so many bad things about it,
that I won't add to them here.
It was strawberries today.
