Re: Let's get hyped for the Amalgam!
Might tweak it a bit yet but gonna see how i like it first.F1B81109-AA96-44CA-9D69-09FFE091E2F4.jpeg Nice mod spyderg! That looks pretty slick, I really like the swedge you put on the blade (I originally wanted a swedge on the Amalgam). Back when I first got into knives, I didnt appreciate clip poi...

Re: Spydie Logo Differences - Golden vs. Taichung
Wow, nice images Zatx! I too find the logo differences quite interesting. I always thought it was really neat that Spyderco took the tool path for their Taichung logos and made it part of the design, adding a sort of texture to the logo. I like both the Golden and Taichung blade logos. That said, I ...

Re: Let's get hyped for the Amalgam!
Haha! I totally understand. Mine has broken in to the point that it is very nearly drop shut with no blade play. After pressing the lock tab, it just takes the barest shake for the blade to swing all the way back closed. Every time I use it I can't help but fidget a bit and open and close it a few m...

Re: Let's get hyped for the Amalgam!
Starting to think about CQI tweaks on this. It's a short list because it's already a great knife. 1: larger detent ball. With a larger diameter, the lockbar has to move more to get out of the hole and this greater deflection means you need less pressure from the lockbar to begin with. 2.Slightly la...

Re: 2019 New Product Reveal!
So I guess the new Reveal might be a good thing? The staff worked really hard to come up with this program. sal Yes, definitely. This format is better than what I expected - I was thinking it would be like a Spyderco Byte, one knife at a time. But this was more exciting, like a mini mid year catalo...

Re: 2019 Reveal Volume One - Live!
That P3 looks to have contoured edges, please Sal say it's true! All the squared off edges in the past years of lightweights had me worried. This looks fantastic, 2.4 oz, wire clip. It's my dream P3. When are the orange ones coming out? :D The Para3 I handled at the Taipei Meet had contoured edges....

Re: New reveal policy: is it the end of an era?
I think the new reveal method is pretty smart. Presumably with releases being prepared year round, that means there will constantly be reveal catalog supplements for people to talk about instead of just twice a year with the main and midyear catalogs.

Re: 2019 New Product Reveal!
The Para3 feels great. Had a chance to handle one at the Taipei meet. The bidirectional texturing is top notch as always, and IMO the contoured edges make the handle just melt in your hand. I would have loved to see these contoured handle edges on the Native5 and Manix2 lightweights.

Nice job holeshot! Looks like you did a nice job. Got any pics of it partially open to show the clearance in the lock cutout, and fully open to further show the flipper delete?

Re: Let's get hyped for the Amalgam!
Once you've figured out how to post the pictures, I'd also be interested in seeing your mod, holeshot. It's been fun so far hearing about the functional mods people are making like increasing the spring force and widening the detent hole, as well as seeing more visible changes like deep carry clips ...

Re: Let's get hyped for the Amalgam!
How about making a list of pros and cons as you currently perceive them? The only con I can see is the weak detent. Brian, are you on Instagram? Hi Liquid Cobra, yes I am (gundam.maniac), though I'm mainly just on to follow others. Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you're having a good holiday, and, s...

Re: Why Didn't You Buy A Manix 2 Back Lock?
I got mine in from BladeHQ yesterday. Every bit as amazing as I remember it being from handling one in buferoe's collection last week. In my eyes this is the definitive Manix, harkening back to the original back lock versions but more refined. Silky smooth action, nice crisp clack when the backlock ...

Thanks for sharing Texan42. Just curious, are you preloading on the flipper at all? Let us know the outcome after Spyderco gets back to you!

Re: Let's get hyped for the Amalgam!
Texan42, sorry you had trouble with the detent. What was yours like? Kind of on the topic of detents, I got a 7777 in....that thing is on the other extreme of the detent spectrum. Stiffest detent I've ever felt...I keep slipping off the jimped flipper tab. The thing absolutely snaps open and shakes ...

Re: Forum Knife Action Problems??
When I have a knife with action I find less than ideal, the first thing I try is adding a drop of lube on each side of the pivot and to the detent without disassembly. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere if you tried this already, but maybe I didn't read carefully enough. I have a Mantra 2 that, out ...

Re: Why Didn't You Buy A Manix 2 Back Lock?
...Anyway, I didn't get one because I thought they'd be more popular and thus be around longer, but now that they're discontinued and I got a chance to handle one, I really need to pick one up before the secondary market goes super crazy on pricing . I think it's a really nice knife (can you tell I...

Re: Why Didn't You Buy A Manix 2 Back Lock?
I thought I would have more time to buy one as I thought it would be more popular and last longer than it did. I got a chance to handle buferoe's Manix 2 backlock last night (and many other Spydercos long discontinued that I was curious about and now need to hunt down....but that's another topic). O...
